One thing I will say for the CSI intros is that they haven't truncated their openings to make room for more commercials.
Some other standout intros from modern TV: MAD MEN (I can't believe I forgot to mention this one) HOUSE DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (before they started truncating it) RESCUE ME |

MBP, that's the 5th season opener so that would have been 1971.
From Wiki: Sam Elliott as Dr. Doug Robert a.k.a. Lang (alternated with Lupus during Season 5 and appeared in one Season 6 episode)

Thanks. I think I caught more of the later years with Lynda Day George, Mr Phelps, and Willy. Along with the sauvest black man ever for that period, Greg
Morris. He rocked. Of all the people on the show, he was the best--always making the explosives and electronics...
Cool that they had his real-life son play his character's son in the remake. And then the son went on to play the lawyer in Seinfeld spoofing Johnny Cochrane, finally getting to feel "there real, and there spectacular" boobs of Terri Hatcher when she actually was pretty before she stretched her face... |
