(Except for the two finalists who will receive prize money, a weekly stipend will be provided for each participant for each week that he or she remains in the Big Brother House.) Stipend payments and prize winnings will not be paid until after the broadcast of the final episode of the show." They also pay the same in the jury house. If you're evicted before the jury, you can go back to work so CBS does not pay you. That would be ridiculous. If they have the hg's evicted before jury back for the finale, they probably give them airfare, hotel and some kind of per diem.

The HGs have selective memory when it comes to the application...and I am sure it is stipulated in their contract as well.

It's voluntary and I'm willing to bet that more than half the people who try out would gladly play for free for the opportunity to win money. Big Brother's not a job. It's not an acting gig. It's a reality TV show. They get free room and board and the chance to win a lot of money. That's the payment. For the people on the jury, they need some incentive to stay in sequester which is why they get a stipend. At least that's how I've always understood it. ETA ok so according to Fine Wine's thing it looks like they ARE paid to go on the show so I was wrong about that. So if they are all paid for the weeks they spend in the BB house then maybe they all should be eligible for it whether they win or lose... or at the very least the 2nd place person should get it. Especially for those who are sequestered they still need to pay their mortages and bills - I don't know anyone in my circle who can afford to give up 3 months of pay just to go on a game show.

Technically, they are working even though it is playing a game to win a prize. I doubt there's too many people that could do it without some type of payment. Most of them still have bills to pay.

The jury members continue to get paid per week as long as they remain in the sequester house. If they make it to the jury then they will get about 9K total.

The stipend is probably close to a day contract player on any tv show. BB, Survivor are about the only ones that come to mind. We all know Survivor pays depending on when you are voted out. So the stipend for BB makes sense, who could afford to just not work at all for 3 months and not get anything? Not too many people I would imagine.
