This whole "This family is so middle America" is typical white American garbage.
If they were a black family, they'd be calling them a disgrace and another statistic. They're so trailer park trashy. |

there needs to be a lot less "identification" in politics and more sticking up for oneself.

It's pretty comical to hear the liberals call Palin a trainwreck, when the Obama train is powered by repeated chants of "I think I can."

She was clearly not vetted very well by the McCain camp. Now that the press is actually doing his job for him, all the bitter cons get snippy. When the press
is negative towards a Republican, it's always bias, but when its negative towards a Democrat, its always fair.
Half of the Palin dirt is just irrelevant, but she comes with a lot of baggage, a lot more than anybody ever able to find on Obama (even though Ruggy can type Rezko and Wright about 80 times and make it seem like they're evenly controversial) and its been less than a week. Overall, it should succeed in tempering any benefit she might have done for the ticket, outside of getting some scary fundies real excited. |

The Republicans around here are heralding Palin as a sign of their progressiveness. They say the fact that they have a woman on the ticket will combat nicely
the black guy on the Dem ticket.

I have a sibling that ran for a local position and got smeared by the good 'ol boy network. I can't imagine myself running for an office where reporters would dig up all of my reports and testimony I've entered into the public record. It would get even uglier if they found out that I posted here or interviewed my neighbors who wish I would water my lawn during the summer. |

I don't have any problem with the little girl being pregnant, although it is unfortunate. Although it does make her mother look like an absolute FOOL for
cutting spending on programs to help teen pregnancies and being against proper sexual education. What I have a problem with is all that whacked out political
mess that she's done and been involved with in Alaska. I mean she's under investigation for abuse of power, before she became governer she left Wasilla
in debt just because she brought in big corporations, she's been brought up having ties to a group that wants Alaska to sucede, and she wanted to fire a
librarian because they wouldn't remove books she thought were inappropriate from the Wasilla library!?! COME THE FUCK ON!! If it walks like a duck and
sqauwks like a duck.... She's missing quite a few marshmallows from the cereal box!

I also think more women than not understand that this was a token pick chosen not based on her qualifications or personal relationship with McCain, but based on her vagina plus ultra-right wing views. I would be just as dismissive of McCain's running mate were he a man who only two years ago was mayor of a town of 6,500 that when he took over had no debt, yet somehow after his tenure even though the town secured 27 million dollars in federal earmarks he left the town 20 million dollars in debt. I'd also be skeptical of a male candidate who claimed in his introductory speech to the nation to have said "thanks, but no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere and presented one of his biggest qualifications for office being his parenting, only to find out in coming days that he ran for governor supporting the Bridge to Nowhere and kept all the federal money for it even after the project got cancelled and also that his family is in total chaos. I'd suspect if most of us who are horrified by Palin are a bit more vicious or emphatic about how unqualified and awful she is, it's not that she's a woman, but that the McCain campaign insulted us and the American people by thinking she was a Hillary Clinton substitute. |

sorry meme, but even a token bone thrown to us wimminfolk is historic from where I'm sitting.
Remember, even the dems had to go through Ferraro before they started thinking Hillary might actually work. |

Actually I would argue that Ferraro's disastrous token selection in 1984 set the idea of women in politics back a lot more than it propelled it forward and
that she had pretty much nothing to do with people supporting Hillary but whatev.

The femibitches are insulted because Sarah doesn't march to the liberal lines and is a conservative. McCain never claimed she was, god forbid, a Hillary
substititue. They are trying to trash her because Obama is really weak compared to McCain. It's a diversion tactic that will blow up their faces.

alol Probably doesn't apply to the black candidate representing the Democratic party, a party which in a shocking twist of events has been supported by over 90% of black voters in past elections. |
