Palin is a trainwreck of a pick but I'm wondering if the criticism is coming on too strong, especially regarding the pregnant daughter. It's not really
relevant to the election, though it's very relevant to my amusement.

Well I for one just find it refreshing that the media has rediscovered their investigative reporting skillz.
I was beginning to think that part of their brains had atrophied completely away. |

Not so much that as their budgets for investigative reporting had atrophied

The reporter who quoted Myspace as a source should be beaten with sharpened sticks by a tribe enraged monkeys.

Elitist Obama and Country club Joe Biden can ill afford to keep up the attacks on the middle class. This will backfire as voters see that the Dems have nothing in common with them. As was said last night at the convention, the day Palin was sworn in as mayor she had more leadership experience than the entire Dem ticket. |

well not me
but neither are all the idiots out there who visit the leadership section of Barnes and Noble. "leadership" is the vaguest, most debased word out there right now if they meant executive experience, I see their point. but isn't it dangerous to discount your own presidential nominee's resume in order to build up the vice presidential nominee? |

See, I agree with you about Biden and Obama. Why can't you see that McCain and Palin suck equally?

Je Fa wrote: Again you show your ignorance. Monday, CNN spent 10 minutes on Palin's daughter, 5 minutes on Gustav, and 1 minute on protests at the RNC. ANd they acrually said that "Police were upset that protestors had damaged their car.", implying that the police started the violence. The reporter then told a member of the RNC that they were trying to learn about Palin, therefor telling viewers that they were not to be trusted on the subject. And when they're asking if Palin will supply paternity test results, without any evidence that she ever had an affair. That is disgusting. Everyone should be disturbed by the behavior of CNN and MSNBC over the past few days.

Now I think the daughter thing is hysterically funny, but that's a travesty

Palin is actually a very good pick. The attacks on her and her family are easily seen as put downs of middle America and middle American families and their experiences. I think you're falling into the trap that a lot of political junkies fall into by reading too much into this. If Palin is a success it'll be because people like her. If she grows to be very well-liked (and she'd probably really need to be historically well-liked to actually make a positive difference as a VP pick) then distasteful attacks on her will backfire. Not because of some sort of convoluted elitism/middle America reasoning but because it will just look mean. Anyone who sees the message in her candidacy that you outline above was never really in doubt over their vote. |

Now I saw Palin's speech from Friday for the first time yesterday, and she def. has charisma/charm, etc. But that record of gaffes and weird behavior is
still out there. It's not what these people say, it's what they do. The same thing applies to Obama -- who talks a lot (too much) and doesn't do
shit.
