Posts: 635 (08/30/08 12:48 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Where basically the mactors and Terry Deitzeses choose each other first, making the people over 30 years-old and the cool funny original fat and skinny people look like immediate outcasts that the Cali kids should vote off right away. HATE this crap. The "pick em" takes 20 effin minutes in the episode and is never exciting. I'm craving tribe assignments made by EPMB & Co., with maybe a tribal switcheroo completely randomized by having players stand on disks again or something... (like Marquesas). Uncertainty rules, and is far better than watching 10 mactors all pick each other as teammates, and either losing miserably (Ulong) or gaining a 6-4 advantage at merge...

It happened once in Thailand... and in Palau it had devastating consequences for Jonathan and Wanda... but since then, it's just been the same old boring routine shit again and again... and gives the ENTIRE game way too much of a luck factor than ever.

Thats exactly what I've wanted for the longest time. :P It would eliminate the #1 cause of pagongings, tribal loyalty, because there will be no tribes and no consistency in the teams.

Every season since it has completely sucked though and takes about 10 minutes away from the episode just for a waste of time with no suspense at all.

But yeah really, it worked well in Thailand because it was the first time it happened (and because they had the older people pick, not some damn mactors) and Amazon because they had it at a reward type of deal which was different, and Jenna was stupid enough to talk about Heidi. Since then, it's been a complete bust. Oh, and it was much better when it was an actual schoolyard pick (where the team captain picked the entire tribe) unlike what they've changed it to now.

Players control their destiny somewhat. It's interesting, because it gives aways TONS about tribal relationships. There are plenty of unequal producer-assigned tribes (Morgan, S15 losers) The weak and old are just as likely to be outcast on assigned tribes (Skinny Ryan, Chicken, Chet) Coversely, Katie got herself picked first through good stategic\social play. Eliza was picked last - and made the other team PAY. Tracy had only herself to blame for not picking her.

Just a freaking long premerge period. They should expect a bit of mingling at the beginning to count for much at the merge. The S13 pick-em produced interesting balanced tribes that had the potential to produce an interesting endgame if not for the over-powerful idol and Jonathan messing up. And the S12 pick-em produced interesting dynamics on Cassaya, and two tribes with different personalities. (Isn't that more fun than watching tribe tweedledum and tweedledee, each with one assigned minority, hot chick, old person, etc) Coversely, S15 had unbalanced producer-assigned tribes and a predictable endgame. As for Tracy not picking Eliza... I like Eliza but I don't think it would've made that much of a difference on Malakal.
