Men's USA volleyball won today as well. How is it that the men are doing better than the women? I would have thought that the women would have at least one game against the Cubans yesterday.
Instead, they're on the cusp of being eliminated from pool play (and they still haven't even played the defending Olympic champions, China), while the
men defeated top-ranked Italy and are at the top of their pool. I seriously thought it would have been the men on the cusp and the women at least safely into
the quarters, not the other way around.

According to the odds the women were like the 9th or 8th favorite. I still think they'll sneak into the quarter finals. They were just on a mini vacation
from the olympics. There are allowed to lose games and still move on <3.
The US Men Beach Volleyball duo bounced back after their upset and won in dominating fashion. It's funny that they will probably still win the gold despite randomly losing in the first round. Also the 2nd women's american team won tonight, although it wasn't as close as the first game. I think depending on where they fall in the rankings, they might be able to win bronze. However, nobody is going to come close to beating Misty May/Kerri Walsh. I will be shocked if they ever drop a set this entire olympics. I think Phelps' lisp is part of what makes him endearing. He may be a total meathead, but he is OUR fricking meathead. Bitches better own it, cuz I do.

That last scene (the 4 gold medal relay swimmers with the unfurled US flag) is my new desktop background at work.
I'm nervous for Phelps' 200 Free, though. Lots of hosses in the final, and this might be an opportunity for someone else who wants to pull a Lezak. If Michael wins the 200 Free, he's golden until the next set of relays. |

Apparently 200 Free is suppose to be one the for sure/easy/shoe in wins (I think he lost last olympics in this event to Ian Thorpe). They are all heavily
favored in the relays and the only real toss up (if you call it that) is the 100m Butterfly.
