Oh and there have been lots of marginal cities to host Olympics just in the last 20 years besides Atlanta and SLC:
Calgary Barcelona Albertville Lillehammer Nagano Torino And Chicago is a larger metropolitan area than Athens and Sydney. So suck it. |

That second tier thing stung, didn't it?
I don't know enough about Canada to know which of their pissant cities is the least pissant. Winter Olympics shouldn't count though, since you pretty much need terrain and cold weather, so Barcelona and Munich are really the only two second tier non American examples. |

The second tier thing didn't sting. (I mean it is the Second City after all) It was being compared to Atlanta.
And if Chicago is second-tier then Montreal is second-tier. |

Heh, the Winter Olympics is a bastion of scrub cities |

Summer games should be in a major city.
Winter games should be held in sleepy hamlets with buttloads of scenic chalets. That's from the official IOC charter. |

I have no doubt that if it weren't for stupid local bickering between the Board of Supervisors, the Mayor, and the 49ers, San Francisco would have hands
down won the US bid and have an even better chance at hosting the Olympics than Chicago. If the US loses the 2016 bid, blame the 49ers and their reluctance to
have a parking garage for their stadium.

Would the conservative Muslim nations even send their athletes to the buttfucking capital of the world? (I mean outside of squashie's house)

God, can you imagine having to run the marathon in Houston in Aug. How horrific would that be. Humid and 105
If the summer olympics were in S america would they have to change the date because of the whole season switch thing? |

Well, they were in Sydney 8 years ago, and while the Olympics were about a month later, they didn't change the date to December/January so I'm guessing
no.

The 1956 Summer Games in Melbourne were held from November 22 to December 8, though.

Please. I don't get buttfucked at home. It feels dirtier in public.

Sydney's weather was amenable to having a summer Olympics during their end of winter/early spring. I don't know how beach volleyball players would feel
playing morning matches in 65 degree weather, much less open water swimmers, in September. Rio's temps are the lowest during August with highs around 73
and lows around 62.
The reason why they won't allow another Summer Games in the Southern Hemisphere occur any later than September is because it "disrupts planned competitions for later in the season for many sports." That's the reason the IOC gave Qatar for not hosting the 2016 games. Otherwise, apparently Doha was a completely capable candidate against the other bidding cities. It even beat Rio in early voting. It should be noted, though, that both Tokyo and Madrid received higher scores than Chicago in preliminary voting. Geography aside, as of earlier this summer, Tokyo and Madrid were considered more capable host cities by the IOC than Chicago. |

Coincidentally, our entire special swim team drowned in ONE ONE-HUNDREDTH OF A SECOND! |
