I think Dan sometimes was very stupid in the way he treated Renny (the veto wheel, mostly), but most of the time they got along. I think she had some deep distrust of him as well as Memphis which they were never going to change. She tended to believe the people on the other side. Even about Keesha.
I don't see Dan as being as good as Will, but he's never compared himself to Will, so I'll give him a pass there.
Will was always cocky in the DR but NEVER in front of the other HG's. Dan gets cocky in front of them. Like Dan's HOH reign. Will would never have pulled that shit. Will was a ruffle the feathers and then smooth them over guy and Dan is a ruffle the feathers and keep them ruffled guy. That's the difference between Will and Dan IMO. Both excellent game players but Dan's much more in your face for the second half of the season. If he pulls out a win here, then he will be better than Will in my eyes because Dan stabbed them all blatantly and Will kept his deviant side hidden for the most part. But I still don't think he'll win so he won't be the better player.
He was also very cocky during the early parts of All-Stars, culminating in Kaysar's HOH week where he and Boogie held court and wanted all the girls to get out their bikinis and Will basically dared Kaysar to get the veto used and put him up. He only became more of the smooth-over-feathers guy later in the season.
I won't disagree that Will is a better player than Dan, and I haven't ever heard anyone say he isn't. I just don't remember Will always hiding his arrogance.
