Sheryl Crow, #1 woman, over Shirley? Um, no. In fact Sheryl wouldn't rank at all if it was up to me. :P

Detours and The Globe Sessions are 2 of my favorite albums ever, but I reckon if she looked like Ani Difranco,Shawn Colvin or an Indigo Girl she would merely
be a critically acclaimed singer/songwriter with a small cult following.

I like Sheryl Crow, she's a famous singer back in the mid '90s through mid 2000s. I love these singles like All I Wanna Do, Strong Enough, If It Makes
You Happy, Everyday Is A Winding Road, My Favorite Mistake and Soak Up The Sun.
She might take care of her adopted son. |

She's the one who wants us to only use one square of TP in the bathroom, right? LoL, what a tool.

4 - Henry Rollins (Black Flag/Rollins band)
Maybe not such a legendary figure in the world of musice per se, (I was a bit young during the Black Flag days) that doesn't change the fact that Rollins is one of the most influential and outspoken artists of our time. Yes, he definitely has an agenda, he's an over-the-top liberal whackjob whom unlike most liberals isn't afraid of being politically incorrect. But he's one of the few left-wing nazis I can actually respect because he's not some laid back, do nothing and whine all day hippie. He's actually an activist, hell, the shape he's in alone pretty tells you he doesn't just wastes his days away. He shamelessly uses every media outlet to voice his opinion. He's one of the few people in this world who is respected by hippies, homos, punks, anarchists, jocks, and avregae Joes. He's the ultimate beer buddy we all wish we had. Next: |

3 - James Hetfield/Kirk Hamett/Lars Ulrich (Metallica)
For anyone who loves Rock, who at one time or another during their life hasn't been a Metallica fan? They are the longest standing, most succesful metal acts of all times. Are they the best musicians ever? No. But James's voice combined with Kirk's guitar skills and Lars' drum beats are a combination that is nothing short of stellar. Unfortunately like most bands, they have had their share of problems and at the turn of the new decade the members have become quite unberable. But if we judged musicians based on their personal lives, we'd never listen to music at all. Despite their escalading douchebagettry, they are still skilled musicians as ever and that's really all that counts. Next: |

Awesome awesome awesome.
Love me some Metallica. Although, I actually prefer people doing covers of Metallica tunes than Metallica themselves. The MTV Icon show about them was excellent. |

Ah, Metallica... for the first 10+ years of their existence, they were as good a metal band as there's ever been. Classic after classic after classic.
Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Orion, Welcome Home, Battery, The Four Horsemen, Seek and Destroy, One,
Unforgiven, etc... so many classic songs. Unfortunately the band peaked with their third album in 1986, the year Cliff Burton died, and never reached that high
a quality again. And Justice For All and the Black album were terrific, but ever since then they've been nothing but SELL OUTS. Their music sucks dick.
Load? It sucks! ReLoad? Sucks even more! And so on. And to make matters worse, their tirade against Napster, when the only reason people ever even heard of
fucking Metallica was because of people making bootleg tapes of their performances in the early 80's. They once were great. Now? They can choke on a
cock and die for all I care.

Never heard of him. Or his bands. Or maybe I have...and just haven't realized it.
He can sing really melodically and beautifully one moment, then rip it in high gear and yell his lungs out the nextLove these type of singers. It's what drew me to Linkin Park. |

I haven't really listened to Tool all that much but the one APC album I have (Thirteenth Step) is pretty excellent.
Who are the representatives from the major bands who haven't shown up yet? I'll guess Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains, based on the fact that he writes and sings fantastically (not as well as Layne with singing but whatever), and has the humble attitude that Wyl seems to love. Or Weird Al. I hope it's Weird Al. |

MJK <3 Terrific singer, writer, musician, etc... Tool & A Perfect Circle are both terrific bands, among my top 10. And love the Tool music videos, the most unique and interesting ones out there. |

- Henry Rollins is a weird selection because he doesn't really fit in with the timeline. He's definitely more influential than most of the people on
the list though. Black Flag is definitely a key omission from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
- Metallica is another odd choice. Yes, they were hugely successful on 90's era Alternative radio with Black Album/Load/Reload but it's really their 80's metal stuff that made them legendary. Again, doesn't fit with what you were trying to do here which was to create a list of your favorite alternative rock artists from a particular era. - I absolutely loathe Tool. Maybe it's intelligent & quirky compared to what you hear on the radio, but it's still a pretty big joke overall. - #1 wasn't a bad choice to end your list. Never been much of a fan although they have plenty of good albums & EPs, it's just that I only keep the great albums in my massive music collection. |

I have never heard Black Flag's music. But damn if Henry Rollins is one of the most passionate and eloquent speakers out there. His speaking tours are
amazing and I try to watch his stuff when it comes out on DVD. I just saw Uncut from Isreal (har har). Some great stuff there. He really does inspire people
into getting active in what they believe in.
I've had the pleasure of seeing the Cranberries and No Doubt in a doublebill concert. By far the best one I've been to in the unfortunately few that I've been.
