In conclusion: Canada's election system sucks out loud. Where a party can win a majority of seats with less than 40% of the popular vote. Democracy my ass.

That riding in Edmonton is pretty much a done deal. It will stay Conservative. The incumbent won by 5,000 votes. The only way you could win is to either get
all the Liberal voters to vote NDP, or pray that this incumbent fucks up big time before the election.

Fucking NDP voters. There is no point to voting NDP, not in this election anyway. The Liberals are the only ones who can realistically beat the Conservatives and as we can see voting NDP just eats into Liberal votes and doesn't hurt the Conservatives.Since you seem to be quite a dim person, what do you propose? Why the fuck should I vote Liberal if the leader of the Liberals can't even speak ENGLISH? I'd rather vote my own party knowing they're going to lose than vote for a party leader that will still lose and can't even speak English correctly. I don't want a guy leading this country who can't speak the official language. Hell, even Jean Cretien could pull it off.

I never understood Liberals telling socialist NDPers that they should vote Liberal. The CCF/NDP came out of the dissatisfaction of lefties of the paternalistic
establishment Liberals. It is like saying the old Tory hating Reformers should have voted for Kim the dunce Campbell. It makes no sense at all.
You vote for who most accurately encapsulates your worldview. I would just not vote if there was no one to represent my views, Not pick a buffoon. I don't think Libs get that hard core socialists see the Libs as equally in the way of their ideas being implemented as the conservatives are. |

I'm voting NDP, just because I want Dion out.
Oct. 15 will be a great day for most Libs. Dion will be out, then we can work on getting either McKenna or Iggy in there. |

Plus every vote means $4 (or is it $3?) in public funding from taxes. You will be giving your party a donation when you vote for them. Do you want Dion to
spend it trying to hang on?

I'd honestly rather have the Conservatives in charge if Dion is the only other option as far as winning.
I'm still voting green, though. I'll give them my money. |

Does anyone know anything about the liberal constitution in regard to Leadership Conventions? What if Dion refuses and he has a couple years to go before a
convention? Imagine the chaos. It could be like Martin/Chretien II. Open warfare.
Dion is seriously self involved and a bit too proud. Jes sayin'. |

The current Harper government has learned that you represent all of the country, even those that you hate. No sense making the country more partisan than it already is. Bush could have learned a thing or two from him. I just want the Liberal party to rebuild and get rid of some of the rotting corpses in the higher levels of the party. I have been involved in and surrounded by politics my whole life, although mostly on the provincial level. I cannot vote Liberal this time around, I just won't, but I'm happy with what I've seen in the NDP candidate to not feel as those I'm betraying my ideals. |

I support the NDP but the candidate that they have running is supposedly a real windbag. What I'm contemplating is do you vote for the person? Or the party? I know that if the person gets elected, they'll have to follow and vote according to their party (which is the only thing I like better about the States is that house of representatives can truly vote however they wish). DILEMMA! |

How's this:
If you don't support the conservatives, it's more important that they don't get a majority. The US recently had a republican president and both houses of congress, and look what happened with that. |

In my riding, the NDP comes in second to the Conservatives, so voting Liberal would be a waste of time Remington.

You don't have to vote liberal. Just do your best to keep the seat from the conservatives. Windbaggery isn't a sin. Is he/she a good candidate otherwise? |

It's still not too late to find a vote-swap partner. It's a shot in the dark, but you might feel less badly about voting strategically if you can find
someone to vote for your party in another riding.

Windbaggery isn't a sin. Is he/she a good candidate otherwise?Nope. Is in a lot of hot water right now. Will probably lose votes. Meh, I'll vote for the party, not the candidate. Haha. |

How are they polling? If it's not close, then vote swap.
Googled polling data as of September 29, 2008 in some close Edmonton ridings: Strathcona - conservative and NDP candidates are separated by about 2000 Centre - conservative and liberal candidates are separated by about 4000 East - conservative and liberal candidates are separated by about 10 000 (how this is close is beyond me) |

About 5 years ago I was marching in the May Day parade down Whyte ave. I took a photo of some marchers carrying a banner reading "Communism Now!" It
wasn't until I developed the pictures that I realised in the back ground was the sign for the store "When Pigs Fly." True story.
