They have a veto! I'm gonna play semantics: no, they don't. The BQ has a free vote on anything other than confidence matters, in which case they'll be supporting the Lib/NDP coalition. Is it underhanded to play that way? Sure. Shrewd? Fuck yes. Immoral? Nope - that's what politics is, and that's what we have to work with in our system, as there are no other parties in the House. Sorry.

My vote is worth 1/2 that of somebody from Northern Alberta or Manitoba, and 1/4 of that as somebody in Prince Edward Island. Responsible Government doesn't work in this country anymore - a Prime Minister can effectively shut the house down whenever he loses the confidence of the House. All three parties - Liberal, NDP, and Conservatives - 'appoint' who will run in each riding most of the time. The system is so utterly fucked. No wonder only 49% showed up to vote.
