Seems pretty shortsighted to me. Get rid of the Bloc, ok, I can completely get onside with that. But fuck over an entire province when there are quite a lot of them who DIDN'T vote for them?
Yeah, that sure is SMRT.

No, the PQ won't get in on Monday, but her dear boy Harper's rhetoric in the past few days has awoken some dogs that were best left to sleep. Thanks everso. Eta: Vicc, the separatist issue was not brought up by quebecers, it was brought up by Harper himself.

A separatist party SHOULD NOT BE THE MOST POWERFUL PLAYER!!! But they are. They have a veto! I'm gonna play semantics: no, they don't. The BQ has a free vote on anything other than confidence matters, in which case they'll be supporting the Lib/NDP coalition. Is it underhanded to play that way? Sure. Shrewd? Fuck yes. Immoral? Nope - that's what politics is, and that's what we have to work with in our system, as there are no other parties in the House. Sorry. |

BB keeps bringing up democracy. Quebec overwhelmingly put Bloc butts in the seats. I feel bad for the true Canadians in Quebec, but the majority of folks there
keep putting it into the forefront by supporting those extortionist jackasses.
Another caveat. I dig Duceppe. I wish he was working for our side. |

But you have Doris out there, yes?
I am hereby creating an Ontario secessionist movement. Ontario is sick to death of the fighting between Quebec and Alberta, and it's had enough. So we're threatening to leave too. Admit it. You'd miss us. |

Damn. If ever there was a time for the U.S. to invade Canada, I think this is it.

After Survivor.
Is everyone cool with Toronto being the capital? I mean, Queen's Park is here and all. |

Why don't we go back to Kingston being the Capital? |

That hole? Ugh, only if Toronto decided to implode.

@bassoon
You'd get less resistance from NS/NB/PEI and the Island of Montreal if Canada's capital was in Kingston... |

Meh, but all the real power would lie in Toronto anyway. Kinda like it already does.
Back to your regularly scheduled bitchfest? |

bassoon291 wrote:That remark is kind of neat - about Toronto and power. Yet, I've never felt more disenfranchised. My vote is worth 1/2 that of somebody from Northern Alberta or Manitoba, and 1/4 of that as somebody in Prince Edward Island. Responsible Government doesn't work in this country anymore - a Prime Minister can effectively shut the house down whenever he loses the confidence of the House. All three parties - Liberal, NDP, and Conservatives - 'appoint' who will run in each riding most of the time. The system is so utterly fucked. No wonder only 49% showed up to vote. |
