Then what would you have proposed Harper said? While I agree it would piss off certain parts of Quebec, I would rather see a politician tell it like is than dance around the flag pole like some other parties love to do.

If I were Harper, I would have stated it like this: In the last election, the Conservatives won the strongest mandate, and we should be allowed to govern. Here we are just 10 days into the new government and instead, the opposition parties have sought to derail the will of the voters and ... blah blah... possible new election when no one wants one... blah blah.

(Note: I don't like/support Harper, but this would have been the smarter way to paint it).

Something along those lines. I would not have raised the fact that the Bloc wants to separate as it just stirred up a hornets nest, that was a dormant issue and is no longer dormant.

And here's my take on the whole thing. Harper won a MINORITY. (Never mind that more people voted NDP and Liberal combined than for the Cons- but that's another topic.) Don't act like you have a MAJORITY. You have to work with the other parties instead of trying to destroy them.
