(of course here where vaccines would help, they can't afford to get them) No one lives in an otherwise healthy and clean environment, except maybe Bubble Boy, and look what happened to him. Do you think no one travels anymore? That no immigrants come to our country who aren't vaccinated? And actually, most vaccines don't do anything to prevent disease from drinking raw sewage. Most vaccine diseases are air born or droplet born and just being in the same classroom with someone with one of these diseases will give it to you if you aren't vaccinated.

There were some nice statical charts, I will have to hunt for them again, where all these things people received vaccines commonally for, decreased (historically over years) from simply following basic hygiene. Where-as the statistics for people getting vaccinated and people getting what they were vaccinated for not only remained constant but grew (and these charts were both 20th and 21st century charts). That is people getting vaccinated for X, didn't decrease the amount of people getting X, but actually increased it.

I am leaving in about an hour to take my son for his before-kindergarten exam and shots and his vaccine form says The State of PA and the Allegheny County Health Department require all immunization records to be completed prior to your child's admittance to the classroom. There will be no provisional status for children entering school who have not completed these mandated immunizations. (bolding not mine).

Diptheria, Typhus and all the other things that us military kids had to be vaccinated against, maybe, but if you think you can't get tetanus unless you live in a dirty place, go step on a nail and get a really nice puncture wound, don't get a vacccine and then come back and discuss it with us.

Go to the CDC website if you want some really interesting information on the efficacy of vaccination. And Trho is right--all the vaccination whiners would be making a beeline toward their pediatrician if they ever saw what some of these diseases actually do to people. But since they are ignorant, they are willing to compromise EVERYONE's health with their filthy little germlings. So yes...there is evidence that vaccines can cause autism... No. There is not. Let me explain this simply. There have been at least two ginormous studies done, one in the US and one in Denmark. The researchers looked at the rates of autism in those who were vaccinated and those who were not. Guess what? The rates were the same. END OF DEBATE. The only evidence that thimerosal might be in any way related to autism is from experiments done in rats with megadoses. Rats ain't people. If they were we'd already cancer cured. Here is a state-by-state chart of exemptions. Thanks for that. Arizona's exemption may have something to do with the measles outbreak we had last winter. Well, this is my final statement to you, cause you have obviously made up your mind but you are very naive about this and very misinformed. Fortunately for you and your future children, most people in this country are smart enough to vaccinate their kids, giving your kids the benefits of "herd immuity." But there is no perfect world where everyone practices good hygiene. How many kindergarteners do you think wash their hands after going to the bathroom when they are in a rush to get out to recess? Furthermore, measles is a droplet borne disease. All the handwashing and good hygiene in the world will not stop it. Whooping cough, TB, influenza and Polio are airborne...even harder to stop. But you go on washing your hands thinking all is well.

There was a story from one OT poster, I don't know if it was personal or from a news story, but it was interesting... The entire school district was immunizing their students against chicken pox (I believe it was chicken pox), and lo and behold, a month later they had a chicken pox outbreak. Lovely coincendence? Of course nobody made the connection that mass infecting everybody with a chicken pox vaccine was the cause, and it's probable that nobody would have gotten it if it weren't done. Some parents, refused to let their kids get the vaccine and got it, where did they get it from? From the vaccinated kids, not the other way around.
