I at least have respect for all the other contestants for putting on good performances but Ty does NOT deserve to be there. Look and watch the group
performance again and look how off he is on half of the steps.

So what? Anyone who get enough viewer votes and judges scores above anyone else deserves to be there. |

azcanadienne wrote:Well, that's not what I said. But SYTYCD is a popularity contest, just like DWTS. Any time the public votes, you've got a popularity contest, not a dance competition, a singing competition, a modeling competition, or whatever the show promotes itself as. I've seen dance competitions on PBS, BTW. |

Okay, fine - sure, as long as it's an audience vote, it's a popularity contest But on shows like SYTYCD, I think the audience is a teeeeeeeeeeny bit more geared towards voting for better dancing On DWTS - I couldn't really care less. I wanted to be entertained, I want to like the person....and if the audience vote irriates the judges......SCORE!!!!! |

I'm positive Twitch didn't need audience votes to be F4. I don't know about the others.

Okay - you go ahead and treat those two shows exactly the same Be sure to watch Hell's Kitchen this week - I'm sure you'll be riveted when Robert doesn't slice his fingers off peeling carrots Masterful, really masterful!

Dancing with the stars, it's entertainment. Vote for you favorite (they always say) celebrity. The celebrity will go on to have NO future in Dancing.

Ahminept wrote:Yeah. Or Iron Chef, for that matter. Next Food Network Star brings voting in right at the end. I never said all shows with viewer voting were the same, nor shows without the same. Certainly, fascist judging shows can also have the winners and losers fly in the face of what the show purports itself to be about, as well. It could be considered a popularity contest with a smaller pool. But there is a presumption that the judge(s) might have a teeeeeeeeeny bit more expertise on the subject of the show than the masses do. What's interesting about those SYTYCD "winners" is how many of them are now competing on DWTS. So now that they've convinced the tweens they can dance (who apparently are geared toward voting for better dancing, who knew?), they now have to convince their moms (who apparently are geared toward voting for better entertaining(?)). So, yes, there's a clear tweens versus moms difference in the shows. For some reason, I expected moms to have seen more ballroom dancing in their lives than tweens, but maybe they don't get out as much. |

Screerider wrote: Lacey and Chelsie were able to walk right on the show and "be" pros - automatically. Snow has to compete with 5 others just to win at being a pro. She got a raw deal. Maybe there is more with what these kids have done after SYTYCD than we know. Hell, Artem and Dmitri have become guest choreographers and "pro" dance guests. Anything is possible. I guess Pasha will be next?? |
