Ugh. In non-dog eating news...
Yet another example of China's restrictions on religion that StrangeFlute is in denial about: BEIJING (AP)-A group of American Christians who had more than 300 Bibles confiscated by Chinese officials when they arrived in China is refusing to leave the airport until they get the books back, their leader said Monday. |

Memy, I'm not in denial about China's religious restrictions, I SUPPORT THEM!
The US is currently at war with radical islamists. Are we oppressing their religion? You bet we are. Last week, radical islamists killed 16 policemen in China. I'm sure you heard about it. China is fighting the same evil religious forces that we're fighting. China is much more lenient towards the buddhist of Tibet, than the Tibetan buddhists are to minority religions in Tibet. Not only has the Dalai Lama banned the Shugden, not only are Shugden adherants treated as 3rd class citizens in Tibet, or driven out of Tibet, but goons loyal to the Dalai Lama harass Shugden in India because they want the practice eliminated. There is no religious freedom in Tibet. ==ETA== Does China (or any government) have the right to be suspicious of cults begun by kooky charismatic leaders (ie..Falun Gong, Zhong Gong), .. or must they wait until the cult becomes deadly like Aum Shinrikyo (Tokyo Subway gas attack), Jonestown, or Koresh compound? Does China have the right to be suspicious of Christianity in China? It is a foreign religion that has been closely tied to subversion against China and major wars (ie Taiping and Boxer Rebellions responsible for 10's of millions of deaths). So yes, they have a HUGE right -- and a responsibility -- to be suspicious of Christianity in China. Considering the history, I'd say China has been pretty lenient towards Christianity. ==ETA2== in 1901, Tibet's rulers cleansed many foreign religions from Tibet As of 2008, Tibet has: 1700 buddhist monasteries 4 mosques 1 catholic church Most Tibetan christians live in India

The US is currently at war with radical islamists. Are we oppressing their religion? You bet we are. It's the radical, we're-going-to-tear-your-buildings-down-and-kill-thousands-of-your-people aspect of terrorist groups we're trying to opress, you insufferable retard. Not their practice of Islam. The Muslim community in the United States is doing quite well and to date, the government has not sanctioned any mosque and quran burnings, the torture or execution of any Muslim for his beliefs, etc. in any country. In other news, the opression of religious worship in any form is wrong and contradicts the most basic rights awarded you by the Constitution, whether it's by the government or Buddhist radicals. Tibetans are Chinese, too. And if you say they're fucking with their neighbor's practice of whatever obscure religion, then you're only supporting my thesis that China is all kinds of fucked up. Where did you learn so much about China, "Strange Flute"? Wikipedia? Wikipedia has a few words to say about Christianity in China:
Uh, yeah. Sounds like, "China has been pretty lenient towards Christianity." Fail. |

It's not gold. I'm emphasizing how we supress terrorists for being terrorists not because they're Muslim.
I made more points in that post. Please refute them. In the future, I'll try not to use the same words you use so as not to confuse you.

I'm not saying YOU'RE gold. YOU are friggen frigtard, Fezzzy.
The Chinese government's position is to discourage superstitions and magical thinking, including religion, because they serve no useful purpose and make people stupid. We see religion as a "right" and we can practice any bizarre belief we choose to. They view religion more practically as to whether it serves a useful purpose to people and society, and if it doesn't, it should have to justify it's existance or be eliminated. They are ATHEISTS .. can you respect that? |

I guess I could if they weren't such dicks about, uh, how did you phrase it..."discouraging superstitious and magical thinking." And by
discourage, I'm sure you meant to say something about, "Believers arrested and imprisoned and sometimes tortured for their faith. Bibles destroyed,
churches and homes looted, and Christians subjected to humiliation," etc.
You can't defend China without resorting to totalitarian ideas. By the way, you spelled existence wrong. |

Religious nuts can leave China. Nothing is stopping them. Clearly the religious nuts are the ones trying to impose their false beliefs on gullible chinese
peasants, and so the Government's job is to protect it's citizen's from such harmful practices. Good for them!

Makes me wonder why Flute hasn't moved to this Utopia on Earth. The draw of living such a wonderful life must be immense. She probably just wants to
sacrifice to bring this Utopian way of living to us. Thank you.

On Talk of the Nation this afternoon, Neil interviewed a girl who came to Canada from China 4 years ago for school. That's when she found out the Tiananmen
massacre happened to students and not a violent mob.
She was also too ugly to be a pen pal to a student in Canada when she was 9 or so. |

Just now. By me.
They can't get their ideas adopted through logic or votes, so they pine for a government that can make it happen through force for the betterment of the people. That's why there isn't a totalitarian dictatorship that they don't wet themselves over. But these same people are the ones who cry foul when W takes away their freedoms. I'm talking about the loony left, not you regular run of the mill Democrat. |
