I would take antidepressants if I were suddenly purged from a board I'd posted at forever.

Here, have some hypothetical electroshock therapy, Sloan.

Good. We've graduated from cyber-drinking to cyber-eloctroshock therapy as a way of bonding.

Maybe some of you people oughta buck up, pull yourself up by your bootstraps, and man up to the table.
Don't you think? |

Been on Celexa for 18 months...I'm starting to come off it, and I go in today to see if I get to drop down another step (I was as high as 40mg). My
condition was well-chronicled here...it was basically chronic fatigue syndrome triggered by depression and anxiety.
I'm not sure what it did, if it did anything. I'm definitely not depressed anymore, but I don't know if that can be attributed to the meds, the placebo effect, or the therapy which I started at the same time. The anxiety hasn't gone away at all and in fact I've had a couple real panic attacks which I'd never experienced before. The therapy has helped me get a grip on that anxiety, so I'd say it helped me a lot more than any pills. I've experienced no side effects so for all I know the things are just tic tacs. Now that I'm on lower doses I've felt dizzy at times, so technically it's worse coming off them than on them, at least for me, since it's different for everybody. Therapy's hella expensive if you don't have a great plan (which I don't), but I'd recommend it over happy pills any day. Talking is the solution. You get advice, someone who cares, and most importantly you get to phrase your problems so you yourself can hear what you're saying. BTW in my darkest, most desperate hour I turned to OT and everyone came through for me, and I can't thank you enough. |

Anti- It took me approximately two months to come off of Celexa. I was on 40mg as well. Make sure to do it slowly otherwise you'll feel like crap. I made
the mistake of coming off it too quickly the first time and I was constantly nauseous and dizzy. If you don't mind spending the money, visit a Naturopath.
They have excellent supplements and advice that might help without all the side effects.

Sometimes SSRIs trigger mania/agitation in the newly initiated. Just saying... |

I was on 40 for a year and have been on 30 for about six weeks. Today I go in to see if I go down to 20 or whatever. Then I leave town for four months so
I'm pretty sure I'm not rushing this.

I'm a huge advocate of seeking out a naturopath/holistic doctor... your hormones have so much to do with the way your brain functions. But sometimes
getting your hormones in balance isn't always the answer.

Glad you are feeling better Anti. Weaning from meds can be worse than being on them. |
