Fight CLub was awesome, and some of his non fiction is pretty good too, but his fiction is repetitive and dull. Is anyone going to see Choke?

Survivor is far better than Fight Club. Invisible monsters was pretty good too. I don't like his more recent stuff.
John Grisham, Dan Brown, and Clive Cusller are lousy writers. Chuck is not. |

Survivor was pretty heavy handed with its social commentary imo. Fight Club was the only story he wrote that has legitimate characters instead of coathooks in
which to hang his ideas

I actually liked Haunted, but thats because its a collection of quirky horror stories rather then a story with no plot at all with no "real" human
beings but quirky caricatures just for the sake of being quirky

I don't care about his writing. He's hot.

I like his writing, but it always leaves me feeling "unsettled" after I read his books.

Unsettled is a good word for it. He starts well and ends well, but most of his stories' middles are pretty boring.

I didn't hate it that much, it was pulpy and I liked that. It's a lot better then when hes pretentious

So, you've read Fight Club, Survivor, Haunted, Choke, and Stranger than Fiction and you think he's a lousy writer?
Thats queer. |

I think hes one note. Sure,he has a lot of interesting ideas, but the way he writes makes everyone sound the same. They all pontificate about the same things
over and over again in a circle until some weird shit happens which breaks the chain.

I just bought "Lullaby" by him, but haven't gotten a chance to read it. Fight Club was awesome though!

'Haunted' was incredibly disturbing. I couldn't stop reading it. I won't read another one of his books. I
will go see that movie though.

he is highly overrated and if you've read one of his books you've basically read them all.

Exactly. I loved Fight Club, and his non fiction is good, but everything else is middling or junk

Of his last two, I really loved Rant. His latest, Snuff, was ridiculously lame, though.
Sorry, I like his stuff. He's this generations Tom Robbins, with a little less talent and a lot more disturbed wackiness. Kimbob the Approving |

I wish Dr Will Hatch two point oh would let us know his opinion on this. His 8 posts in this one page thread are so vague.
