It's a part of his charm?
So how're you planning on passing the time in case this thing does manage to hit you and kills your power? |

Ugh ... I guess I'll lie around and sweat. Yuck. Once the daylight hits, I can read and I can run the laptop until the battery dies. The last time that I
was without power for a significant amount of time, I was 10 and we lost power for two days during a blizzard. We mostly played board games by candlelight - I
guess I could give that a try.
If the power is out for too long, we'll leave town. We live in an area without a lot of big trees, which is what usually kills the power - so we should luck out. Even if it does hit, our area is supposed to have winds under 50 mph. To tell the truth - hurricanes are scary and I've evacuated from one when I lived in SC, but you know they're coming so it isn't as bad as the tornadoes that we used to get in Ohio. Although, at least we had a basement there - I swear my mom used to make us spend half the summer in the basement because of the tornado watches. |

Hope your power doesn't go out. And I feel ya 'bout the tornadors. When we moved to Ohio, my sister was the one who would gather us all into the
basement if there was so much as a speck of rain coupled with anything that was more than a gentle breeze. She has an irrational fear of tornadoes. I say
it's irrational as while, yes, it can kill you, she takes it to the extreme that she so much as hears the word "tornado" you can see her eyes
glaze over as she mentally curls herself into a ball.
I still call her up and let her know whenever there's a thunderstorm or tornado heading our way. Heh. |

One of my sisters is still afraid of thunderstorms - she used to drive me nuts with it when we were kids. I was always more of a storm watcher than the
hide-in-the-basement type.

Yeah, I still love watching thunderstorms. One of the best conversations I've ever had was in the midst of one with my husband (while we were dating)... I
love how exciting, beautiful, and terrible they can be. As for my sister? She didn't drive me nuts, for me it was amusing. I would make sure to hide her
"blankie" before the thunderstorm/tornado would come our way and watch her run around in a frenzy.

It might have been amusing, if she hadn't always tried to crawl into bed with me whenever it stormed. She's a kicker.

So where is our big bad hurricane???

It's not supposed to hit until tomorrow - and it isn't a hurricane yet. The outer bands are supposed to hit around 7:00 CDT and the eye is supposed to
make landfall at around noon. Unless it misses us entirely.

50 mph your power should stay on.
I remember the tornado watches/warnings when I was growing up in Illinois. Those were pretty damn scary cause they come at you so fast. My mother would freak everytime we had a hailstorm. In the basement we went. Practically everyday in the summer we have thunderstorms here. They're really intense for about 30-45 minutes then poof the sun is out. |
