"Don't touch the host" appreciation! |

I didn't see any other topics about this (granted, I'm still reeling from BB, so I didn't really put a lot of effort into looking) and I've
gotta say that Jon was really good host-wise tonight. I thought he was very close to being Anderson-esque.

I don't think he's a fantastic host, but he does put effort into it.

I mentioned it in the episode discussion thread on Monday...aka the actual "tonight" it aired. ;) Seriously though, Jon really did improve a lot over
the course of the season. I think he was a little cautious at first because maybe he was worried about overstepping the host boundaries, but once he figured
out the balance between hosting and being a smartass, he proved that he's really a great fit for this show. It would really suck for the show to die
(again) just as Jon was getting into the groove of things.
And it's obvious that he had a good time since he made his own Save the Mole video. |

LOL...I thought that was freaking hysterical! He really has gotten a lot better and has turned out to be a good host!

He definitely upped his game, and became more charming and funny. He grew on me. That and he's not so bad looking.

I think if the Mole lasts another season we will find that Jon will become a much better host after all the mole is a very unique show in terms of host player
interaction as the host is kind of more like an older brother as opposed to a boss like in most shows. The format of the mole requires the host to ineract more
often and on a deeper level than a show like Survivor where Jeff is an untouchable and imposing dictator controling the game with little feeling for the
players

I gotta say, I couldn't stand Jon Kelly at all when he was a sports anchor in Chicago. Not one bit. As an entertainment reporter, I didn't really
care for him, but I don't watch those sorts of things anyway. I was expecting the worst from him on The Mole.
I was pleasantly surprised. I thought he did a really great job. Not quite as interesting as Anderson, but I'd be glad to see him again. Good job. |

Why is Anderson so iconic to begin with?
He was robotic, completely devoid of personlity and charisma and had a monotone voice. If he wasn't gay and good looking (at least according to you people here), you wouldn't've given a gerbil's ass about him. Jon >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anderson. There, I said it. |

No. He was mysterious, urbane, witty, fun and an engaging personality. It doesn't hurt when he meaningfully interacts as a fellow human being with the
players instead of being a detached observer

I love Anderson but I have to admit that he was much better in season 2 than he was in season 1. The wine spilling, the funhouse, most classic Anderson
moments were then. So, I wonder if the Anderson-Jon comparison is all that fair at this point.
They're both way bangable, however. They should date each other. |

He was good in season 1 though, the editing was just different. Mole 2 was more of a traditional reality show, agreat one, but still a reality show. Mole 1 was
edited to be almost like a spy drama, and Anderson was edited to be more mysterious

If he wasn't gay and good looking (at least according to you people here), you wouldn't've given a gerbil's ass about him.I don't know if I'd go that far, but yeah, the way some Mole fans seem to worship him baffles me. I think the fact that he could go from completely serious to goofy (like his dance after threatening the players with another execution after Elavia took the bribe) definitely made him a great host for the show. But honestly, even though it took Jon a few weeks to settle into the role, he really is just as fitting a host as Anderson. Besides, ever since he got on CNN/60 Minutes, Anderson's been a complete ass whenever the fact that he did The Mole is brought up. He says that he hated the players and basically didn't enjoy the experience at all. Now granted, he said that years after the fact, and he's either a very good actor or lying to seem like a more serious journalist, because it looked like he had fun when he did the show. But seriously, why are people hanging on to a guy who rolls his eyes and bashes the show the few times he even acknowledges playing a part in it? Who knows, maybe Jon's going to bitch about it five years down the line, but frankly, he's shown more passion for the show in a three-minute YouTube video than Anderson has in seven years. |

^Yeah, I remember bringing that up a few monthes ago and you said that Elisabeth had every right to sidestep questions about her Survivor stint and maybe even
bash it, but ANderson can't?

I'm not at all saying that Anderson doesn't have the right to ignore or bash the Mole gig (or Elisabeth for that matter). CNN/60 Minutes is far more
prestigious. What I'm saying is that even years after the fact and two new hosts in the meantime, a lot of Mole fans still clutch onto Anderson like
he's some sort of reality show hosting god when Anderson himself supposedly didn't give a rat's ass about hosting the show. He was a good host but
some people haven't gotten over the fact that The Mole can (and has) continue without him.

I agree that people put him on a pedestal and hold him to impossible standands, but thats what Sucks does, it's what people do with celebrities. We think
celebrities are "legitmate", I hear that word a lot. We should reallt try and quantify their worth. Are actors or singers, no matter how talented
they are, actually contributing to something impoertant? No, art is supposed to do that, and while some people for example might call "The Dark
Knight" art, will it really contribute to anything worthwhile? On that, will Anderson Cooper or any news person of the major media? A little, but not
really. On that, I loved Anderson Cooper as a host, he was by far the best one(leagues above Jeff Probst, even)
