Most of that info was either already known or false, sorry.

He also told me that Ozzy and Amanda aren't together anymore and they weren't even together during the reunion. Ozzy cheated on her... who would have guessed? I wondered why they didn't mention anything about the relationship at the reunion...No commenst on this bombshell? I've strongly suspected it, but this is the first confirmation. I guess they didn't want to embarrass Ozzy at the Reunion after his profession of love. But Amanda and him haven't done any of the same events since. |

Unlike the above news, the bit about Survivor ending at S20 should be treated as merely Erik's opinion. The lack of a car sponsor could have something to
do with the notorious Cusre of the Car. What company wants their product seen as a cursed object? Something that Yao-man doesn't want, and Dreamz gets by
the foulest of betryals. Dreamz may have killed the car challenge.

Poody, I agree, but every season they emphasize artificial themes and twists. They should focus more on location if they want to "reinvent" itself,
which I hope they do with Gabon. They got lucky with PI, since the cast was so great and the twists they employed were relevent to the actual theme

Fresh Location (not a generic Pacific Island or recyckled) - good for bringing in marginal casual viewer (It's in China, maybe I'll tune in). Probably
more effective than a twist like S13 or bringing back faves.
Fresh Twists, or Good Casting and Gameplay (like S16) - good for preventing burnout of loyal viewers, but not going to produce immediate effect in ratings. Especially if marginal viewers aren't hooked right at the start of the season. So they need both. |

All I'm saying is that I'm all for twists because it's something new and different. |

The race twist was a great one-time twist! It was stupid to ruin it by episode 3 though. It was funny how the stereotypes matched every race. Whites were
normal and intelligent. Asians were geeky and smart. Blacks were lazy and couldn't swim (and sucked ass at challenges). Latinos were argumentative and
stupid.

craig wrote: I could see Survivor going past 20. I could see it being used as a mid-season replacement like The Amazing Race is before it is canceled. It is cheaper to make and all of Television's ratings are down. It is still a top 20 rated show, even if the ratings are down, and combine that with it being cheaper to make. I would also think that CBS would take into consideration that they are starting on season 18. |

Y'know, I'm pretty sure if any of that was true, it would be the fault of casting attempting to find people who they thought fit those very
stereotypes. Do I personally think that those stereotypes were reflected on Cook Islands? No, I'm simply saying why it would be that way were it
theoretically the case.

Survivor 3 was suppose to be in the Negev Desert in southern Israel not in the Palestinian authority. they went to Kenya because the location is very similar
environmentally.
survivor 4 was suppose to be in Jordan and be called Survivor Arabia. |

I was kidding, waiting for the responses.
But I do think it was a great twist and should have lasted till the merge or one tribe's dissolvement. |

If Survivor keeps ratings consistent to what they have now, this show isn't going anywhere. People freak that it doesn't get 20 million. Well, no one
EXPECTS it to. Seriously, people are so fatalistic with ratings with this show it's ridiculous.

Yeah everyone is flipping about ratings, but every show is down in their ratings.

True. People here don't seem to realize that the job of a network executive is now to minimize viewer loss rather than increase ratings. Those days of olde
have long sailed.

Really. How many of you are hyped for Gabon? Not me. CSI is on its last legs, might as well kill off the golden goose at the same time.

For somebody who follows TV ratings closely, I can say that Survivor is still doing great in that area, the only show nowadays that consistently cracks 20
million is American Idol. Shows considered a hit are showing decline every year, like CSI averaging around 17 million and Desperate Housewives and Greys
Anatomy averaging around 16 million this year. Survivor got these sort of numbers as recent as Cook Isalnd (season 13) {compare that to the fact that
Grey's and housewives are in their 4th season}.
Additionally, Survivor averaged around 13 million for its latest installement (Micronesia) , this is a number that NO new show was able to reach on any broadcast network this year. So, Survivor still has strenght in it. |
