Too many "manufactured" 70's references, we get it.
Good to see Heather "Weinerdog" Matarattzo doing a show, I suspect we will see lots of NYC based actors.

So DS51 hung out nakie a lot back then?
Oh yeah, noticed the Charlie commercial. Loved Shelley Hack! I wonder how I remember a commercial so well when I was only 10? Hell sometimes I forget what I ate for breakfast the day before.
Keitel is great but I'm still in awe of O'Mara. (and for more than his hawtness though that's enough) Those two play well together.. or
rather - don't play well. The fight scenes in the hospital were hilarious.
Imperioli is the shaggy haired guy? I'm not familiar with the actor. Maybe that's why I think ugh-y 70s porn star everytime I see him.

O'Mara is so fucking awesome I can hardly stand it. The dancing scene at the end, the cleaning up the blood scene....

Haha. Ehh I was too young for streaking and never got into weed. But inside my goody-two-shoes are some very dirty feet. *wink*

I was debating whether to keep watching this or not with my busy Tivo schedule but gave ep 2 a chance. LOVED it. Yes this secured it's spot on my recording
list.
Jason is hotness and a great actor. I like the addition of the neighbor girl. Some nice touches all around though the 70s references did get a bit heavy-handed. |

Why do I get the feeling people are watching this more for the actor than the show itself?

Yeah he needs to be shirtless more I agree.
:) No I do enjoy the show as well. It's a good character with a good supporting cast. I was sad Heather Matarazzo was only in this one. She'd have been a good regular too. I'm glad they clearly made the one cop an adversary for him rather than just another cop. |

Hate crime? As opposed to a really really like you crime? eta - End of this episode made me cry. *sniff*

Agreed. This one was a little more emotional to me than the first two, but that's more than ok. Someone mentioned in an earlier post that they were
overkilling with the 70s stuff, but well.. it IS the 70s. Sam is from 2008 and dealing with being thrown back to '73 so we get to see him adjust to all the
differences and kinda live it with him, if that makes sense.
I love it when Sam uses words/phrases they had never heard like *gaydar* and *hate crimes*. |

Love the show and especially looking for things that may be out of place -- I don't think they said "sexual orientation" back in 1973. And I
don't remember everybody wearing plaid pants either. Also, all the hippies seem much more 1967-69ish than 1973.
Also this guy must have seen Back to the Future so why hasn't started betting on sports games now that he's in the past? No Lisa Bonet this episode also was a treat. |

One small quibble: "Young Sam" came out of the subway wearing a Knicks replica jersey. There were no such things as replica jerseys in 1973. Not for
at least another 10 years.
At least it was a Walt Frazier jersey and not Marbury. |

Sigvold - Sam was 4 in '73 so maybe he has no idea what sports team won what that year? I was 10 and I wouldn't have a clue. Also I do remember
some older girls with the long hair and hippie-ish clothes.
But speaking of predictions, I was also thinking why doesn't he tell Annie something that he knows happens in 73, something BIG, so she'd kinda believe him? I checked the net and didn't find anything too memorable except some political news. Then again I didn't research for long. I'm too lazy. Grease was mentioned on the show, but didn't come out until.. 1978? |

The movie came out in 1978. Not sure how long before that the musical was.
eta-Wiki says it came to Broadway in 1972 so at least that's consistant. |

I love the music on this show. The pop songs, of course, but more so the groovy 70's cop show soundtrack played during chases and other action scenes.

I really enjoy every minute of this show. Harvey Keitel is amazingly good and O'Mara is just swoon-worthy.
The music really makes it believable. |

I have the same feeling about her that I had when Andy's son decided to be a cop on NYPD Blue. I told my buddy the next day that he was going to be dead
and byt he end of the season he was in the morgue. I'm just getting the "we're setting you up to die" vive from the naked hippie girl.
