I bought it on a whim and now I don't know what to do with it? How do I know if it's ripe? How do I slice it up?

You should ask that pineapple poster what she would do with it.

Marinate something with it. It is a great natural tenderizer.

Maybe you should grow up and not buy stuff on a whim.

Let Loki be, merkyl.
She's inconsequential, yet great fun for us married guys. |

You can tell the ripeness of just about any fruit by simply smelling it.
Does it smell like a papaya? Does it give a little when you squeeze or poke it, but not too much? If so, it's ripe. If not, then put it in a paper bag for a couple of days. I don't particularly like papaya. You WANT it to taste like mango, but it just does not. My recommendation would be to blend it to a pulp and mix it with some voddy and call it a Papaytini. |

You WANT it to taste like mango, but it just does not.I was JUST thinking that. It's a shame, because papaya is so much easier to prepare. Mango pits are annoying. |

The color should still have some green in it otherwise it can be mushy. Cut it in half, seed it. Squeeze lemon on it. Some people like a little salt on it.
I had a papaya tree outside my apartment in Hawaii. Fresh papaya is so much better than mango. |

Papaya Pudding
• 2 Teacup papaya slices • 2 tbsp Skim milk • 1 tsp Sugar How to make Papaya Pudding: • Blend the milk, papaya and sugar in a liquidizer*. • Pour this mixture into cups. • Papaya Pudding is ready. Serve it chilled. No idea if it's any good, but it seems simple enough for even Loki to handle. *blender |
