Posts: 1 (07/23/08 10:59 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	i just wrote a really long post that got deleted - so am going to keep this short RS - good for vocab, visual learning but poor for actually being able to use the language in real conversation Many alternatives online with more flexibility - especially educational podcasts I listen to economist, ted talks etc...are great For Spanish, i use SpanishPod (http://spanishpod.com) which is one of the best for this language other spanish podcasts are available - but have found the hosts especially to be boring on these ones the hosts are a key for maintaining your interest level - and if boring, impedes your learning anyway, hope that helps last bit of advice: avoid Rosetta Stone -- it is dated

Posts: 138 (07/23/08 11:42 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I really liked Rosetta Stone. I did level 1 Dutch, and tried level 1 & 2 Arabic. Dutch was pretty easy, but I ended up giving up on Arabic since it was a little too different from English for me to really grasp. I should probably give it another shot. Unless you are planning on using the language though, you'll forget most of it fairly quickly. It builds on top of itself, and really does allow you to understand fairly complex uses of the language. You don't actually know any of the languages "rules" though, except in an intuitive way. If you don't keep building on it, it will eventually fall apart and you'll forget almost all of it.
