15. Lexie Grey

Adding Lexie to the show was an interesting idea, I guess. Yes, it seemed kind of plot-device-y, totally random and didn't really make any sense, but it did turn out to a pretty interesting situation for Meredith. Of course, Meredith acted like a complete bitch, as was expected, but meh. As for Lexie herself, I'm somewhat ambivalent. Sometimes, she can be funny, but her quirky personality can also be kind of annoying. She's sort of a ditz and some of the things she does (announcing to Meredith right when she's in the middle of bringing in an ambulance that she's her sister, looking through people's files, etc) make you go "OH COME ON!" I do like her friendship with George though. I actually think she is more compatible with him than Callie or Izzie were.

14. Denny Duquette

The Denny story line was kind of strange, but it's impossible to hate Denny himself. He's hot, he's charming, he's sweet, he has a sense of humor and he handles his illness well. I don't blame Izzie at all for liking him. Also, his death was one of the saddest on the show (after George's dad's and Susan Grey's.)

13. Joe

I like Joe, but since he's not really a main character, I can't rank him any higher than this. He's always there to listen to the doctors when they come in for a drink and has a great sense of humor. I also like him because he's nice to Izzie. There aren't too many people who are nice to Izzie. Anyway, he's with his boyfriend Walter in this picture, who is not ranked as he is less important than Joe. I like him too though and I like them together.

12. Richard Webber

And just at the half-way point, we have the Chief of Surgery himself! Richard is like a father figure to the rest of the doctors, sometimes strict, but other times ready to offer advice. Even though he's a power figure, though, he is very human and even has his comedic moments (such as on the camping trip when it took him forever to figure out Joe and Walter were a couple ). I also like his struggle between work and family life (a.k.a: that screech owl, Adele). The Ellis affair is also interesting, though I'm not sure I agree with him visiting her in the nursing home as often as he does. At some point, he should have just gotten over that relationship (which I guess he eventually does, but by that point, it's too late.)

11. Ellis Grey

The highest ranking Grey on the list (though if Susan were being ranked, she'd probably be higher), Ellis is one of the scariest fictional mothers I've ever seen. I don't like Meredith (duh), but I cringed at that "I was supposed to raise an extraordinary human being! But you turned out ordinary!" (Or how ever she put it) Yikes! After her death, we learn more about how messed up she is and how she slit her wrists in front of Meredith. Ellis is one of the few people, I'd say, who got nicer (somewhat) with Alzheimer's instead of meaner.
