McW, I always get such a kick out of your Dexter Avi's seasonal outfits. New Year Dexter is now one of my faves.

I like the clothing descriptions to a point in the books. I think it helps you get a picture in your head of what the characters look like and I think most of the descriptions in the books have been appropriate. However, I do think the descriptions of Sookie's outfits do go a little overboard and really date her. I especially remembered rolling my eyes and groaning when I was reading the "banana clip" description and a couple other things. Certain things like banana clips (which I remember wearing in the mid to late 80s), immediately lock you into a time period. So, I just picture the book Sookie in '80s garb now all the time.

Pam & Eric's clothing descriptions are/were fantastic & really added to how I pictured them in my head. So, clothing descriptions in the books are good in my opinion and I overlook when they sometimes go a little overboard (i.e. the banana clip). ;-)
