Thing is, I love the descriptions of some of the other character's clothes, especially Pam and Bill. So I guess I don't mind Sookie's as much. I
think the descriptions of her clothes translates pretty well to what she's wearing on the show.

I totally agree with you McWolcott. I love the descriptions - especially for Sookie's gowns. And Pam being described as the suburban wife in her taste in
clothes in the books compared to the designer clad Pam in TB is a distinct difference. I much prefer the designer Pam. I also don't mind all the different
descriptions of how Eric makes jeans and a t-shirt look good. (I love your New Year avi!)

McW, I always get such a kick out of your Dexter Avi's seasonal outfits.
I like the clothing descriptions to a point in the books. I think it helps you get a picture in your head of what the characters look like and I think most of the descriptions in the books have been appropriate. However, I do think the descriptions of Sookie's outfits do go a little overboard and really date her. I especially remembered rolling my eyes and groaning when I was reading the "banana clip" description and a couple other things. Certain things like banana clips (which I remember wearing in the mid to late 80s), immediately lock you into a time period. So, I just picture the book Sookie in '80s garb now all the time. Pam & Eric's clothing descriptions are/were fantastic & really added to how I pictured them in my head. So, clothing descriptions in the books are good in my opinion and I overlook when they sometimes go a little overboard (i.e. the banana clip). ;-) |

Thanks guys on the avi compliments, Maggie Chops, Sigvold and Jughead Spock made them so I can't take credit!

I figure they're just white trash.
Clothes descriptions are fine when they're needed to set the mood or to tell the story. I don't need to know again that she's wearing her work outfit unless it's going to get bloody after a fight with a were later. |

I finally broke down and started reading the books (I'm going through withdrawals wanting good tv back) and OMG I'm fucking addicted. Every spare
minute during work today, I was sneaking in a chapter. It was a tough choice deciding to eat lunch over reading some more. AND... I am so happy to finally
understand what the maenad is!
I'm gong to have complete tunnelvision until I've devoured the series. |

I wish Heroes would use the same effects True Blood uses when they read minds.

I got kind of bored of this midseason and stopped watching. Maybe I'll try again.
Sookie and her autistic vampire boyfriend just bore me to death. I really can't stand them. There's nothing interesting about their storyline. And the gap between Sookie's teeth drives me crazy. Tara, Lafayette, and even somewhat Jason are the only thing that keep me halfway interested. There's just not enough of them... |

Pam and Eric are the shit in the books. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of them next season.

Only about halfway thru the first book now, but they've started having sex....Bill seems way hotter in the books than on the show!!

I bought the first book "Dead Until Dark," today. I'm only halfway through episode three right now. Would it ruin the season for me if I read the
book or should I just finish watching the show first/!

The book is richer, the killer is a lot more obvious in the book. I say book then show

I think I'd watch the show first. I find the books are always better than the show/movies so I'm less disappointed if I read after watching.

I'm just gonna finish the show first, then read the book. I just finished episode five. GRAN!
And what the fuck was with Sam rolling around in Dawn's bed?!?! Oh and speaking of Dawn, she was so hot and didn't last long enough, oh well. At least we'll get to see the beautiful actress Lynn Collins as the female lade, Kayla Silverfox, in the Wolverine movie! This show is great! |

I miss new eps, bring on season two please.
I've been re-reading some of the short stories in the anthologies, I love the one about Dracula's birthday. Eric's a doof in it. |

Does Tara not even exist in the books? I'm halfway thru book two and she hasn't even been mentioned yet...

She does, but in a much more minor role than in the tv series.
