I'm glad Sam was cast as Sam. In my mind, the owner of Merlotts was " middle aged" and a bit thick around but muscular.
So glad I was wrong! Looking forward to Seeing hunky blond Eric Northman, head vampire (Sheriff) of the district. At least Renee has an authentic accent, you. LOL Auntie is actually Granny, at least in the books. Maybe Sookie can bring the pretty collie home to be her watch-dog. Sookie is just a church going backwoods gal with a major disability: she has always been able to hear other people's thoughts, which she has no idea how or why she does. Except for her family and best friends, it's a secret, altho' most townfolk know she's a lot weird. Hard to concentrate when you can't ever turn the volume down. Tough on a religious-reared high schooler, or later waitress, to accept dates when she definitely knows where the boys' thoughts are centered. How refreshing is it that there's a cone of silence around vampires! Not so SPOILED below: If I recall correctly, shifters leave their clothes behind when they shift, and they don't magically reappear when they shift back; they have to go fetch them. awesome possibilities. |

The whole set is a sequence, building upon past events. they're fun alone, but can spoil skipped books a bit. check out www.charlaineharris.com

Thanks, McWolcott. I'm a bit bummed to be spoiled already about the sheriff. I am going to definitely get the first book and start reading. I've always found the books are much better than their adaptions and I enjoy seeing the differences. |

I went into this show with no previous knowledge about the books. I did see the specials ONDEMAND that HBO offered, but that was it.
I was so excited to have a vampire based show that I could follow (huge Buffy fan) and I have to say that despite being somewhat slow I think it was a good episode. The characters are quirky. Big fan of Sookie and her aunt. I like Sam and the cook. Tara seems a little strong for a first episode, but I understand she had a tough childhood and I assume that they will flesh her out. Not so sure I love her brother just yet, but he is going to obviously find himself in tons of messes. I like Bill!!! Totally a quiet, brooding character. I like that he is not this smoldering sexy guy, but his hotness will probably increase. I also like the setting and the opening of the show is great. So, I hold out hope that HBO can redeem itself in some way for the horrible decision they made when they took away Rome. |

Didn't really move too slowly for me, I thought it was fine. Pilots tend to be a bit off anyways, cause they haven't settled into the rhythm yet. I do minorly wonder what the storyline will be if this goes on for a while. There are a bunch of rednecks...ok, now what? I dunno, we'll see. I do think that if Sookie's brother has a sex scene every episode, that the show will be destined for greatness. Anna Paquin was good in this too, very different than Rogue in X-Men, nice to see her playing a cute young happy character. The main thing I was left wondering was whether or not there are other superpowered people out there, or if we're supposed to think Sookie is the only one. Also wasn't clear on who knows about her powers. Tara? No one? The vampire is pretty hot in an ordinary way. But vampires in general are just hot. I want some hotass female vampires up in there though. The ending was majorly wtf, so random, loved it. |

ugh...I usually love vampire shit, and I did actually like most of this show, but Vampire Bill is just a major letdown for me. NOT HOT AT ALL.

Vampire Bill is supposed to be a fairly average guy. He wasn't that remarkable when he was turned, hence the name.
Just a guy. Sookie loves that she can't hear his thoughts, that's what draws her at first. I think he's handsome, but not overtly so. Why should all vamps be hot? |

Well, I suppose not all vamps should be hot, but I just prefer them that way. I see ugly people every day in the real world, when I watch TV I want them to be
hotter
 . To be truthful, there are a lot of actors who I find hot that are not attractive in a traditional sense, but I guess they just have some
charisma or something that appeals to me. Bill did not have that for me. None of the characters really did I guess, so maybe that's my problem. I do
like the premise of the show tho, so I will give it another try.

Episode 2 was leaked and I couldn't resist so I downloaded it and I have to say that Tara does tone it down in ep 2 and there was a scene where she was
actually kind of funny.
