That actress has been all over the place. I've seen her on Cold Case and Dirty Sexy Money relatively recently -- her last name being Bauer, I think holy
crap, she's Jack's sister and take note of her name in any credit sequence.
Anyhow, marathoning now completed and am up to speed. I really, really, REALLY liked this series and will re-subscribe to HBO next summer just to see it. Main point first though: agreeance that the motivation for Rene/Drew being the killer was lame as it could be. Somebody clarify if I'm getting it wrong: his ex-fiancee boinked a vampire, he killed her and then goes on a spree of killing any chick that's done the same? Why'd he kill the cute Jason girlfriend then? All she did was take V. (Although I wonder why she was hanging around Fangtasia so conveniently in her first appearance.) Plus he killed Sookie's grandma before Sookie had boinked Bill, apparently intending to kill Sookie. This doesn't add up. Those are at least two murders of two chicks that never fangbanged. And who's Mary Ann? Another shapeshifter it seems, but why try to shapeshift into a pig? Wouldn't these ffukers want to spend time at a zoo and try for a tiger or a grizzly bear? Plus, Bill mentioned that some vampires are shapeshifters, too? By the way, I loved how you all got so deep into spoiler tagging. Truly remarkable. But I get ahead of myself. Somebody 'splain Rene's motivations for going on the killing spree. |

let me esplain. no, es too long, let me sum up:
Re: Rene.....the chick from the pie house was his sister....he killed her first. Then he moved to Bon Pont (sp?) and continued his killing spree. I don't think his motive was only women who slept with vampires, he killed women who were just hanging out with them too. I guess that's where Amy (Jason's gf) and Sookie came in. I think gran was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He went there to kill Sookie, expecting her to be home, but only Gran was. In his flashback during the Sookie chase scene, he seemed upset at Gran being home, but of course he killed her anyway. I liked his character, so I'm kind of bummed that they killed him off. Re: Maryanne, I have no idea. But apparently she is a character in the book, so you could probably get the scoop from one of the posters who have read them. And total agreeance on the shape shifters. If Sam were a tiger instead of a little doggie, Rene wouldn't have kicked his ass like that. I think I'd go for a gorilla myself. Those fuckers are mean, strong, and quick as hell.

Maryanne is NOT a shifter, she is a Maenad which has been explained ad nauseum in this thread. She's kind of a mythological banshee, the pig is her companion. Rene asked Jason if Amy was a fangbanger and Jason told him he didn't know but since she liked V, anything was possible, so Rene killed her. Rene tried to kill Sookie because she was hanging out with Bill. Rene lost his shit when he found out his sister was a fangbanger. She was the first one he killed, it made him go nuts. Sam shifts into whatever animal is closest when he does it. |

On the show, Sam said he needed a model to shapeshift to. Thus the old mutt hanging around Merlotte's and him shifting as a teenage boy into the family
doggie.
I remain unethused about Rene's reason for the killing spree. |

Yep, the whole Renee is the killer thing was totally LAME. Hopefully in the book they actually set it up more towards him being the killer instead of it
seeming like he was randomly picked to be the killer on the show.
And I was thrilled when Amy was killed. That annoying hippie chick was a pain in the ass to watch. I really wanted her to get fucked up by some vampires though. |

The finale was just a big disappointment IMO, and I hate that it left on a cliff hanger. They should have just wrapped everything up and started with new
storylines next year. Oh well.

I normally hate the token gay guy, too, but Lafayette remains one of my favo characters ever. The ffuker had a worldliness to him that transcended the monster
idiocy surrounding him. I really hope it wasn't Bill who chowed down on him.
This maened --sry. I marathoned the series, and had read this thread up until ep 5 or so before punching in. I still haven't finished reading the thread, but how the hell can any of you hate Amy the crunchy new age-y Jason GF? I'm totally in love with her and was seriously disturbed when Rene sent her disappearing into the sky. Again I'd still like to know why she was so conviently hanging out at Fangstasia in the first place, not to mention why Rene would kill just her and not Jason too. Spectacular ta-ta's, too. And I'm not normally a boobie-centric kind of guy. They will be missed. |
