Yes, I *could* research it for myself, but I truly would like to know what your opinions are on the subject.
I thought this would make more sense than investing in an mp3 player or whateva.

I'm buying a satellite radio kit for my car and I have no idea what I should purchase. Are there different styles of the interface that I should be aware
of? Which is the best package and/or unit?

Are you in your car that much?

Does your current car have an Aux outlet? Are you looking for a portable unit or a stereo with it built in?

I think I want a portable one so that we can have it in our house too.

I have Sirius in my car. Love it.
If I want to listen to it in my house, I just pull it up on the internet. |

Nice. I got an XM MyFi portable and love it. Has the built in FM modulator so you dont need an extra plug in. Look on Ebay for the extra portable kit. I got
one with home and car hookups on there for $15, so along with the full set I got with the initial kit, now I have full hookups for 2 cars, home and work.

Get the MP3 player one. You can use it with headphones and a docking station to listen. You can use it in your car along with the car's radio. You can use
it at home with your stereo. You can get a fairly cheap boombox that you can snap it into. YOu can also load songs onto it and record from the sat. stations
and play back later completely stand alone.
You can't just use it to listen to sat. radio free standing though. You have to dock it for that. Also, once you get a subscription, you can listen on your computer any time you want, too. |

It might not be a bad idea to wait for the merger approval and make sure what you buy will be compatible with the new company's broadcasts. My Sirius is a
couple years old, and I assume I'll be getting a new one once XM and Sirius are one company with a merged format.

NC unwittingly stumbled across the motto of the OT Big Brother/Big Sister Program.
Or would that be the motto of OT in general? |

Get Sirius. The starmate is fine, with car kit. As was mentioned, home use via computer is adequate. Sirius has awesome customer service...they've replaced
antenna's for me as well as a whole new radio system free. All one has to do is ask ( also hinting that while you love the service, a cancellation may be
in order). They usually throw you two months free from time to time when you say you have to cancel due to "finances".
