You are onto something with this and it became even more apparent with the 'Respect' issue.

Manchelle is sexless in his eyes because she doesn't possess the allure that Angie does. Angie owns her space, she doesn't fawn, she doesn't go out of her way to be the bitch (like all the other girls). That's why no one likes her, she gives her respect and attention to the ones that deserve it, not to the ones that demand it.

If anything, Jessie is misogynist in how he demands to be able to control what she does and thinks. He was just hateful to her because she dared to think for herself and more importantly, be true to herself. His frustration will only get worse as she continues to rebuff his advances. Anywhere else and I could see him forcing himself on her physically, he just seems like the type to do it if rejected long enough.
