I'm telling you. If you do Bamboo right (in planters) it will grow quickly, give you privacy and stay green almost all year round.

DOH!
I see dead people....they're everywhere. oKAY...THE PORCH IS FINE....BUT YOU GOTTA GET SOME VERTICAL GREEN SHIT GOING ON. Go buy 2 cottonwoods, 2 poplars, and 2 arborvitae....and one of something else to offset the symmetry. Plant the living hell out of that back yard. It's gonna take time to get stuff established....plain and simple.. |

i liek your deck funiture.
If it were me I'd get some clamatis that would climb over the deck railings and would give you some privacy there. or any kind of viney type of plant. and some big pots full of annuals on each side of the steps. some cedar shrubs would grow quickly but you'd have to trim them. Forthisia (sp?) is very quickly growing and it's beautiful in spring when it's all bright yellow. and then it turns a nice light green for the rest of the year. |

Why do you need a back yard? Is there a computer back there that I didn't see? Is the ferret cage on your laptop? |

That deck is just screaming for a hot tub.
Yeah, that would rock so much. |

I'm gonna need to see what kind of grill you're hiding there before I can make up my mind if your "backyard" is worth salvaging.

Weeping willows do NOT grow fast. They are beautiful, but they need to be near a water source or they will attack your pipes. And they need LOTS of root space.
Which doesn't look available.

You see, I gave her a new, better, larger dog. Now that's just funny.

There is absolutely no shade there, you need shade. |

River birches grow fast and can grow close to homes without roots being a problem. They're attractive.
I'm biased against them because our backyard neighbor's river birch loses its leaves right into our swimming pool. Goddamn tree. |
