Personally, I thought Brokeback Mtn. was much better than Crash (my opinion). I also thought Heath Ledger was amazing 'in that film'.
Doubt: I think a cast that is powerful (meaning '4' players in this) does have the right to be up for Best Movie. One bad performance in a lead role can destroy a film. Even, an animated voice!
I don't agree that there is a weak line-up of female performers this year, at all. There were several very good roles for women in film. I'm
excited about Mickey Rourke's comeback performance (saw the trailers...and he's very good in the snippets). I actually feel that Kate would win for The
Reader; time will tell. Anne Hatheway was also very good, as was the woman who played her sister. Count on Amy Adams and Meryl Streep and 'the other'
actress *name* who plays the mother of the 'apparently' abused boy. I hope Angelina Jolie is not nominated but, that's me. I think she is
over-rated. I did love her in GIA!
Oh, it's all politics and a bucket of wish lists ain't it?
