The styling was wearing a little thin by the end but I appreciated the effort it took to make it that way and it was fun to see something different. Viola Davis as the maid was unexpected, as were Dennis Quaid's hot abs--I had forgotten how hot he used to be.

I'm sad in a way. This was always the tackiest TV moment of the year.

It's pretty funny that Viola is in it. I'm looking forward to the Oscars this year since I've seen some of the performances and movies nominated. It seems like just about every year lately there isn't much that I care about that is nominated. And the hopes of seeing Kate win her first Oscar is exciting.

Actually, they may look a little like the Rose Parade. One industry hand, who spoke on condition of anonymity to protect relations with the Academy, just wandered by the Kodak Theater and found the University of Southern California marching band lining up for show credentials. The kids had their marching band T-shirts, headdresses, the works. "I'm part of the show's opening number," one bubbled. Every time I read something about this year's show, I die a little bit more inside.
