Henson's performance was good and decent. On the other hand, Adams's performance was the weakest one in Doubt and the weakest out of the supporting actress nominees.Heresy. But I'm not concerned. Amy Adams will go on to make plenty of movies whereas Viola Davis and Taraji Henson will fight for the every couple of year "crack mother #2" or "maternal southern mammy #4" role -- since neither have demonstrated an ability to be anything other than a black stereotype. Maybe when they utter the climactic "Don't touch my [crackpipe/baybee]" (depending on the future role) people will finally see how overrated they are. Of course, they can always fall back to Tyler Perry. Lord knows those movies come out every season it seems.
Also, I'd even argue that Amy Adams was on par with Meryl Streep in Doubt, and just as good, if not better than PSH. Having such a strong background knowledge of Doubt though, it is difficult for me. PSH fulfilled exactly what his role called for him to do. Meryl streep slightly muddled what the role calls for due to directorial choices that I strongly disagreed with. Adams, on the other hand, was the only person to do exactly what the role needed and more.
