Was that a cartoon? Or a kids movie?
I don't watch that kind of shit.

I don't get it either, but I didn't see it.

It's a Pixar movie. It was good, for what it was, but I don't really know how one could compare it to actual award-worthy movies.

Cause every year a good chunk of "award worthy movies" are usually trite or sentimental crap made for the specific purpose of trying to win Oscars.

If it gets passed over by DGA it's probably dead. Wall-E on the other hand will be a complete toss up 1 way or another until the noms are announced. The odds though look good for it right now with all the guilds and critics awards remaining a complete clusterfuck.

I'm very excited about Revolutionary Road. I've only read very good reviews, especially related to the director Sam
and his wife, Kate W.

The Dark Knight's budget was $185 million vs Wall-E's $180 million. Just as many people worked on this compared to the Dark Knight and just because
it's an animated picture with no actors (well Fred Willard has some live action scenes in this one) doesn't mean it doesn't deserve the top prize.
I usually never watch these animated kid type movies (especially since it's rated G) but my friend said it was amazing and let me borrow her DVD of it earlier this month. |

This might be the first year I don't see any of the big "award" films before the ceremony. Every theater around here is now owned by Cinemark, whose CEO is a revolting bigot. I already pretty much hated going to the movies, and that sort of sealed the deal. |

There is a difference between a well-made movie and a highly entertaining movie. And Wall-E was both. Still confused? |

I haven't seen Wall-E...but. I'm putting 1 million bucks on Kate Winslet winning best actress! OH YES I AM...

Walle-e will not get nominated for Best Picture. The Best Animated Feature destroys its chances. No animated fill will ever reach the accomplishment of Beauty
and the Beast. Yea Walle-E was not even nominated for a Best Picture [outside of animated] Golden Globe, where as Beauty and the Beast, and the Lion King all
won Golden Globes. WALL E WILL NOT GET NOMINATED FOR BEST PICTURE, STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!

"Milk" deserves to be nominated for Best Picture and deserves the win. It's well-written, entertaining, informative, and highly relevant. I have
never been a Sean Penn fan, but he was amazing in this movie. James Franco and Emile Hirsch deserve recognition as well.

Last year I knew Marion Cotillard was qualified for the win immediately after seeing her in La Vie En Rose. I never believed she would win, though.
Is Kate that good? |

I just read a synopsis and it sounds like a "Wah wah wah...poor is me." movie. I hope it's better than that.
It is not playing anywhere here. Limited release starting 12/26 with a wider release in January.

Just finished watching Benjamin Button. I need a few moments to really come back with a qualified critique. It's very, very long - I can see the
comparisons to Forrest Gump with its fantastical elements and whimsy, though overall its a much more somber piece. Technically it's amazing, acting is
fine - though I'd say the best acting didn't come from Pitt or Blanchett but supporting players Henson and Swinton.
Overall though, right now, I'm very "meh" on it. |
