I've noticed kids wearing earrings and mohawks.
This just never happened when I was in school. I don't even remember anyone in my high school with a tattoo. Plenty of families are looking for white babies, Shag.... |

I think those kids are born geeky. I was just thinking about this the other day when watching the Spelling Bee. They had no say in the matter; they have that
geek look. And as evidenced by Beauty and the Geek, there's only so much hair gel and contacts can do for a person.*
*exception to the rule: Patrick Dempsey in "Can't Buy Me Love." |

Hey how come the dorky guy in the movies is always pining after the beauty, and wishing she would like him for he was, but meanwhile that guy won't pay
attention to the unattractive girl?
That always bugged me. Total double standard. |

NOBODY likes unattractive girls.

You're making him either gay or retarded!
Autism Genes Are Linked to Early Learning Most studies of autism link it to genetics. The condition is often referred to as the "geek syndrome" because some studies have shown a high incidence of autism in areas like California's Silicon Valley, where highly technical people are having children together. Scientific studies have backed up the idea that autism is genetic, identifying several genes that seem implicated in the disorder. Now a new study has revealed that many of the genes associated with autism are - luckily - ones whose functioning can be modified in early childhood. Autism genes are associated with early learning and are essentially designed to be reprogrammed - so, given the right learning environment, children born with autism could rewire their brains and be spared the worst effects of this disorder. |

Nerds have standards, too.

I don't think parents have as much effect on their kids as they think they do. Nerds are born, not made. You can fuck your kid up through abuse, and you
can instill some values if you work on it early, but basic personality is something we are born with.

But if the nerds want to be loved for their brain, shouldn't they do the same for women- love them for their brain and not for their pointy 36C
breastessess?
I'm counting on my husband's studjock DNA to counteract my love of Star Trek and George R.R. Martin. |

In a perfect world, yes.
But you know the saying... "In a perfect world; Yoko would have jumped in front of John." |

Chances are your son will be a jock and a mild tolerance of Sci Fi or a total Sci Fi geekoid who gets picked last in gym class. For some reason the two
extremes don't meet in the middle too often.

It makes me laugh when I hear stories of someone's "perfect kid", like the silk flag girl that gets really good grades and is really
popular-according to the mom. What she's hiding is that her daughter has uncontrollable temper tantrums over Guitar Hero so the mom is afraid of her and
doesn't bother disciplining her any more.
Perfect daughter indeed. She'll be a drug addict and knocked by the time she's 18. |

My son knows a kid who is a total geek, and it is the result of the parents. They won't allow him to listen to any current music, Beach Boys only (this he
'rocks out' to). Clothing is bought from Wal-mart and jeans worn high in the waist. When they go for a family bike ride, they make him wear the entire
bike outfit including knee pads and elbow pads. And oh yes, they are in their 50's and he is starting high school.
I think it really has a lot to do with how you raise the kids. Seriously they piss me off with how much of an outcast they have made him. |

Would you want your son to throw his hip to the side before winding up and only know how to pitch underhanded? :shameface |
