Sometimes paper copies are the only way to go. Say it's a Tuesday night, 3am, and you immediately need to know whether you can continue to watch the BMX
semifinals without sacrificing staying up late to see the synchronized swimming round 2 scheduled for Wednesday.... or are they Thursday?
Yes. This will happen to you. (Or something similar....) Folks I really do anticipate that if there's anything you truly want to see, NBC's going to have it somewhere. Gone are the days when they'd hide it from you so they could force you to watch whatever USA only crap is on during primetime. I've got high hopes for NBC this time around. I'm sure they'll be dashed, but let's see. What's going to be fun is what happens if the IOC decides to reschedule events due to pollution, which it says it's going to do if the air quality index goes off the scale -- they'll reschedule for a clearer day. |

Norway beat USA 2-0 with 2 goals scored respectively in the 2nd and 4th minute of the match.

I'd watch the soccer matches and cheer for Team USA, but it's way too early for me since they air the matches at like 4:00 or 7:00 in the morning on MSNBC or Telemundo. Ah, who cares. Two days until the opening ceremonies! |

GROSS! That would be a horrible site for the games. Besides, did they not already have the games at Lake Placid, New York TWICE already? It was 1932 and 1980. London would be awesome, especially, since I have friends there. I'm going for sure! 2012 <3 |

Actually, New York had a pretty good plan. However it all hinged on them getting the downtown football stadium built for the Jets; once that plan collapsed,
so did NYC's entire bid.
It could've worked, though. I was suprised London got the bid over Paris, frankly. I figured western Europe was due, so the geography wasn't a suprise, but Paris had an excellent bid. I like Chicago for 2016, but if Rio gets itself cleaned up in time, I think that's the lock -- I don't think there's ever been a South American olympics, so it's got the presumption of snagging the bid. Anyhow, anybody see how the US cyclists apologized for wearing smog masks... in the frickin' airport? What a load of numbnuts. The games have barely started and we've already pissed off the Chinese. Oh well, I guess it was inevitable, but already?! |

Serious about what? Yes, the womens' soccer tournament has already begun. Doesn't matter though -- I think the soccer portions always begin early.
Sucking in soccer or sucking in general? BTW, I just read that NBC will not allow the big events -- swimming finals, the 100m sprint, etc. to be aired anywhere other than in primetime, and on a delay the day (or half-day given the time difference) after the competition. No sub-NBC cable net, no internet, no nothing. Sooo.... Here's to another Olympiad of being on news blackout for the days when something critically important is scheduled to happen. Fucking NBC. Why can't they just let everything broadcast live and use primetime as a highlight reel for the general public to see it fresh for the first time and for us hardcores who want to see it again in HD glory? When it's 9:16pm on the US east coast on Aug. 6, it's 9:16am in Beijing on Aug. 7th. (And in yuku, 8:16pm, further complicating those of us who are unsettled by space/time continuum shifts.) My hopes of NBC doing the Olympics correctly just fell off of a cliff and are in freefall. |

Most people in NYC were against the Olympics. Only myopic, idiotic megalamaniacal city boosters who think builiding a bunch of white elephant sports facilities
spur economic development were for it. NYC was hell to get around during the 2004 GOP convention, it would have been far worst with the Olympics. Not to
mention the thousands displaced as housing would have been torn down to build a sports facility.
I hope these Olympics are a disaster and will end the Olympics now and forever. |
