Agreeance.
Tonight's telecast is a tetch flat -- anyone else thinking the same? |

NBC is losing the ball in the lights.
Swimming? Yeah we'll give you that live. Gymnastics, sure, you can have that, too, live. At the same time? |

Tonight is rather boring. Swimming is a bunch of qualifying runs. Plus, China is destroying everyone with medals...boring.

I've seen hardly any gymnastics over here. I was lucky to catch Shawn Johnson's beam routine in the prelims, which was fantastic!
We've had loads of swimming, rowing, basketball, hockey, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, sailing, judo, equestrian...heck gymnastics is about the only thing I've really missed out on! |

You guys know that, in this day and age, there are ways to watch the games live on the internet, right? You don't have to wait 12 hours or whatever to watch them on freaking NBC, pretending that they're live. Of course, if you know any French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Korean etc, it means you have a lot more options. Ha. |

What was going on with that Canadian flag in the background?
Is there a Canadian competing? Meanwhile, I can't figure out what's going on, perhaps I just don't care aboot mens' gymnastics. |

Okay, this new scoring system is just incredibly retarded. It rewards people for having incredibly difficult routines, even if they don't do well. It
really caters to the Chinese because of their huge difficulties. So many people are getting underscored and overscored because of their difficulty. Plus
getting the scores takes a year.

Bad American confession I'm compelled to make as I watch this Men's Gymnastics AA Final:
Ok, this dorky-cutie American kid who just did the kick-ass Pommel Horse routine can tie for one of the medals.

I read a report somewhere that the gymnastics association was going to redo the scoring. They want the gymnasts to focus more on the artistry and less on the
difficulty and I agree. I'd rather see something done beautifully than a huge move that has no artistry.
Remember when they used to all perform the exact same routines? |

Well whatever they do, I hope they get it to add up to a 10.0.
Nothing beats the clarity of that mark. The FIG did themselves a disservice with this new system. |

i do. and then i remember when the best possible score you could attain was a "10." back when these governing bodies were more interested in us common folk wanting to understand and appreciate their sport, and wanting us on their side. as opposed to what they do now. being all high and mighty about their "business". implementing their "rules" and "scoring" so that no one but them can understand. nice. well played. fuck the casual viewer. keep this up and in a few more olympics, no one will watch what you fucks present. well played.

I remember when Nadia got a 10, I think I was five.
Part of the gymnastics for me is how good a landing you do, it's no good doing a complicated routine if you can't finish it off with a good landing IMO. There's one routine to go in the mens here, the ads are on. |

Talking of having to do the same routine, I do remember that but wasn't it in the lead ups to the final they had to do the same routine and then it was a
free for all in the final? Or possibly in the final, one routine was the same and the other was individual so they had two marks and then the winner was the
overall on both? Or am I just hoping for that? lol
