Aw, the swimmer with one leg and the table tennis player with one arm (or one and a half arms?) story was kinda touching.
As for the giant foot printing thing at the opening ceremony, although it was revealed that it was animation, I still think it was really cool. And the lip-syncing little girl? Whether lip syncing or not, I thought the way she was singing was really fake and even a little creepy.

I thought the real singer was cute enough and I want to give her a hug.

Don't fall for the tragic "I have one leg", or "my son has some disease" stories. NBC whips them out every four years. They are pretty
much all the same. They may be true, but they are annoying.

Does anybody know of a torrent of a Canadian or English or Australian broadcast of the opening ceremony? I'd like to watch it again with different
announcers for variety.

no fucking way in hell those Chinese girls are 16. Most of them looked to be about 12 or some shit.
Even still, its one gold - it will be cancelled out by the US softball or basketball chicks. If China gets a hard on for 'national pride' for a bunch of 62 pound twelve year olds winning a medal in gymnastics, then oh well. Outside of the Olympics every 4 years, the average person has no idea who any of these fucking people are anyway. Now, let's focus on the real story - the fucked up teeth in China. Holy fuck. They make British people look like Audrina Patridge. Seriously, every time they show a Chinese athlete open their mouth, their teeth look all fucked up. Especially the little gymnast children. That's not racism, that's not 'ugly american-ism' - that's just me watching a bunch of people with fucked up teef. |

I like the back ground stories...the one about how much Michael eats was great...what? about 5000 calories a day..should have taken up swimming.
that little girl does look about 12..... they said they go into the day cares and kidnaps them for their programs...believe that... I'm happy for the swimmers' success...could be like that skier was during the Winter Olympics that totally bombed |

the above pics are of alexandre despatie. he is competing today. He is supposedly the only one that may give the chinese some competition in the 3ms.

I was watching a bit pf the gymnastics and they had one of the Chinese girls listed as 15. There is also a 14 year old boy some where out there, competing.
I'm embarrassed to be a Canadian. The Canadian athletes suck. There are athletes from Toga, Azberjain, and Khazakastan who won at least one medal each, and all Canada can do is get to the semis! |

I feel really bad for Alicia. And her mount on the beam is about a million times more difficult than the mounts that Shawn or Nastia do. When the Chinese
captain did a similar mount, she fell, too. With the harder elements, you take a bigger risk. They all know that (including Marta Karoly), and it's just a
fact of the sport. She just didn't have her best day on the day she needed it most.
She still contributed more than Chelsea or Bridgette or Samantha. I resent the fuck out of the fact that Samantha was there on the sidelines if she wasn't competing in ANYTHING! Don't they have an alternate who could have been brought in to take her place? I know her injury happened too late to replace her for the prelims, but there was time to bring somebody in for the finals... No wonder China beat the U.S. They had 6 top athletes competing against 3. And it's no wonder that they have a deeper talent pool - they have an enormous population to draw from! |

Anybody check out the huge thunder thighs on the female canadian synchro diving team? I thought she was going to hit the water first, but it turns out, she
kept hitting it last. I think it takes her longer to jump off the platform.

I couldn't believe all of the little jabs the commentators were making, such as saying how much less "streamlined" the Canadians were than the Chinese. Ya think?!?! My jaw dropped when they commented on the "tidal wave" after the Canadians' last entry. All of it was true, but I really would have expected more political correctness... |
