Yep, I thought the same thing - they might've rigged it 'cause his wife has deteriorated and they wanted to make sure she had a chance to talk to Jerry again in case she dies. And most times, I can admit to myself that I'd probably just glare ineffectively, but with Jerry, I honestly don't know if I could refrain from slapping him.
