#16 Danni's Alliance vs Axis of Evil (S11)
The storyline in Guatemala would have been more satisfying is they had played up the idea of Danni as an avanger of her alliance, instead of making her the UTR
nice girl. Only interviews revealed that Danni, Brooke, Margaret, Brandon, and Booby Jon were the original Nakum alliance. The Nakum women were impressive
early on, doing well in the ep.1 hike and pwning Steph and Brianna at Mayan basketball, where Danni scored 3 points,
Danni's girls got screwed by the worst-executing tribal switches ever and by Judd's treachery. Brooke was taken out allegedly because she was weak but
really because Jamie and Judd were threatened by her lawyerly intelligence. Later Judd got drunk and was verbally abusive to Margaret at TC during her boot
(where he earned OTTNN in edgic). And Jamie and Booby Jon squared off verbally and physically in challenges.
Judd and James became villians of the season, making it impossible for Steph to be the sweetheart while working with them. At the merge they were so
unwelcoming that Danni and her tribe went off in their little boat to regroup, and Rafe felt bad for being part of the "Axis of Evil."
Danni would have her revenge. First Jamie's paramoia and asshole behaviour got him Jerri-booted at F8. Danni's shining moment came at F6, when she won
a special power in the IC that enabled her to beat Steph. When she made a F3 Alliance with Rafe while Judd and Steph were off on the family vist, the result
was one of the greatest blindsides ever, leaving Judd muttering "scumbags" as he walked off into the darkness. I heard that Margaret and Brooke
really enjoyed that episode.
Outcome: Just as Judd flipped on Danni's original Nakum alliance, Danni's revenge was to get Rafe to subvert the Axis of Evil and bring her to F3,
where she vanquished Steph yet again in what I consider the greatest Final IC of all time.
#15 Sue vs Kelly vs Rich (S1 & ASS)
Originally this was going to be just Sue vs Kelly, but never has their been such bad blood among 3 alliance member of a F4 alliance. Sue would have been the
perfect goat for both Rich and Kelly, but she was such a raving bitch that she managed to screw that up. Late in the game Rich replaced her with Rudy as his F2
partner and she had a falling out with Kelly, who voted her off in the F4 tiebreaker.
The strategic rivalry was between Rich as mastermind of the Tagi alliance and Kelly with her 4 straight IC wins and attempts to befriend Pagaong. Sue verbally
assaulted both during Final TC but ultimately voted for the snake over the rat.
In ASS, Sue lashed out against Rich and Jeff Probst with ever more demonic fury over the fact that Rich rubbed his naked body against her in a challenge.
Everyone thought she overreacted, especially for someone who spent 39 days with Rich in Borneo.
Outcome: Sue's fury and bitterness on the S1 jury made her a star and gave Rich the winning vote. But on ASS it made for one of the most unpleasant
episodes ever, which served Probst and MB right for bringing back a player with zero social skills just for her power to be a raving bitch.

Outcasts, Bottle Twist, Haves / Have-nots were the three worst twists BY FAR. Random tribal swaps and/or pick 'ems are usually okay, except for China, which was unfair to the strong guys, and ASS, which had the swap that unfairly evened up the two tribes. Double tribal councils are okay only if the two tribes compete in a RC (a la Palau). Winning a challenge and then having to choose between TC and
keeping your camp (in Fiji) was a friggin' joke.

I know everything Borneo is classic, but I favoured rivalries that run through large segments of the game rather than just exploding nastily at the end. You
will not see Helen vs Brian on this list at all, since they only became enemies when she was booted.
No Survivor twists comes close to being as unfair as the America's Player twist of BB8, especially when combined with biased po-Donato editing and diary room manipulation.

Craig, please fill me in on the soooo unfair, unbalanced twist in Guatemala? Nakum remained a tribe of 8 and Yaxha a tribe of 7. No one got more numbers like
in Allstars where it was ridiculous that Jenna Lewis got spared from the boot she'd have gotten if it stayed 6 Chapera and 4 Mogo Mogo. The dynamics were
interesting in that crosstribal alliances were made in BOTH new tribes. And you got to see the struggle in both tribes trying to battle Queen Stephenie, and
the destruction of the Nakum power core and the destruction of the new Yaxha tribe. It set up for an interesting endgame where if someone that wasn't
boring, like Amy or Bobby Jon or Brian from the new Yaxha tribe had been the survivor instead of Danni, the game would have been more exciting. The storyline
if you look at it as just person A, B, C, etc, it's fantastic, like the Vanuatu endgame. Just the winner sucked.
So don't be hating on the Guatemala twist. Take that away and Judd could have left Nakum early and Blake could have made it farther, meaning no Nakum overthrow of power and no rise to power of Queen Stephenie and her fall from power. |

The Guatemala twist had the worst timing in terms of episodes - late enough that tribal lines were pretty solid, but early enough that there was time for
wholesale pagoning on both new tribes. We were unlucky in that great potential characters and\or deserving players like Brooke, Margaret, Brian, and Ami got
pagonged, and we ended up with two pretty solid alliances merging anyway. It was silly how Brian got placed in a minority situation simply because he was voted
the eprson with most tribe spitit by his tribemates.
Ironically the powershift was orchestated by Danni and two players she'd never met premerge, Rafe and Steph. Yes Judd and the Axis of Evil alliance were entertaining, but the opposition was a bit too bland and\or a bit too religious for my liking. In short, it was a season that was promising at the beginning was almost ruined by how the merge worked out, and then freom merge on had almost the best possible outcome. |

I really think of the F10 twist of All-stars kept the numbers, Jenna L. gets booted. The tribes break down as Alicia/Rob M/Rupert/Tom vs. Amber/Jenna
L./Jerri/Kathy/Lex/Shii-Ann. And then in the IC, the MM's can just sit out Amber/Jenna L. and toss the challenge to get her out of the game. They boot her
to spare Amber and gain favor with Rob. Duh!
