I'm excited by the previews of this. I will certainly watch. Love the look of it.

I'm excited for this too. I saw the 10-minute preview and while it gave tons away, it also made me want to watch the entire thing.

I don't know if I should watch them each night or save them and watch all in a row.

God I love that episode. I had to explain so much of it to my non-Prisoner seeing friends.

I think the original Prisoner holds up very well. For the most part, with their unique costumes and location, big screen tvs, and cordless phones, it
doesn't look like something from the 1960s to me. The only thing that does look dated are all the lava lamp.
From what I've heard so far, it seems like this new miniseries isn't really a remake of the old series, so much as it a sequel that takes place in a new village 40 years later, with a new number 6. Jim Caviezel definately isn't playing the John Drake-version of Number 6, which is good. McGoohan's No.6 was the ultimate badass, and no one can fill his shoes. I am looking forward to giving this show a chance.

I'm curious to see what they are doing with this. According to wikipedia the episodes are each based on an episode from the original series. If it is
really supposed to be a sequel, it will be interesting to see how that works.
I'm glad they are basing one on Hammer Into Anvil. That was my favorite episode from the original. Watching #6 toy with #2 for the entire episode was great. The Premier is tomorrow night, so it won't be long to see. |

I've watched some of the old eps on IFC, and I thought it was pretty good. I didn't like the final ep as much as the others, though. It seemed to veer way off into Wisconsin, and was audibly annoying. I'm hoping only a cursory knowledge of the original will make the miniseries work better, too. I didn't even look at the preview, I'm just gonna watch it. |

I've never seen the original but I've read enough about it that I've always been a bit intrigued.
Jim Caviezal unfortunately is a lunatic and I won't be watching this. |

I haven't seen a single one of his movies, so meh. Oh and the original series also had this great line, which I hope they keep: DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE |

Only the NYT liked it? This doesn't bode well. What a shame.

Well, I stuck with the two episodes tonight, but I don't think I'll watch anymore. Too bad. It looks good, but that's about it. Boring as shit.

It was a bit too esoteric. And I found myself incredibly thirsty while watching it. All that sand....

Not exactly a lot of commentary. Not surprising, given that it's hard to figure out what the hell is going on. What bothers me is that a lot of it is
sort of an idiot plot. Oh, there is no elsewhere but here? Show me where you make every part of an engine, where you mine the ore, the oil wells and
refineries... Those were the first things I thought that "#6," who remembers his old life and is supposedly very, very smart, would have asked. And
when I first saw 2's son, did anyone else have the same flash I did - he's kind of like "Scott Evil" from Austin Powers?
Good things: The first time I saw the twin towers. The anchor in the middle of the desert. The look of those "village" a-frames. 93 was dressed in the garb that Patrick McGoohan wore in the original. Nice touch. Bad things: confusing editing. The worry that this is going to be a "wuh?" sort of show. the payoff of the "TV Event of the year" has to be big. That 6 worked for an evil corporation. And I don't have all that much sympathy for 6. fight back! |

It was 2 1-hour episodes. If you watched 2 hours, you saw them both.
I only watched the 1st hour. I watched the first 2 hours of the original last summer. This felt a lot like that. I'm not sure what's happening, but I'm interested enough to keep watching. It's only 6 hours of my life. |
