*gasp* First attempt at a new thread in here! *nervous*
Basic rundown: BB: France started on the 27th of June. For those unfamiliar, the concept is the same, but it's called "Secret Story" rather than BB. This is because each HM has a secret they must keep from the other HM's at all costs. The show is a bit shorter, it runs for about 70 days.
Any housemate can guess the secret of another housemate at any time, and the accused HM has 5 minutes to defend themself. At that point, BB (known as "La Voix" aka "The Voice") gives the accuser HM a chance to either confirm or retract the accusation. If they retract, nothing happens. If they confirm and they're wrong, €5,000 (about $8,000 US) gets put into the accused player's "account". If they confirm and they're right, all the money gets transferred to the accuser's account and the accused is evicted (as the point of the show is that everyone has a secret).
Some interesting secrets this season (non-exhaustive list):
- One is a teenage parent
- One is a Russian princess
- One lesbian couple
- One "fake" couple - they didn't have a secret at first and BB told them to act as if they were in a relationship. The real secret is that they aren't.
- One is an Anglican priest
- One is a survivor of the Indian Ocean tsunami. (He's got the co-ordinates of the island from which he was rescued tattooed on his back.)
- One mother/daughter couple, but the dumbass mother revealed the secret for no good reason and has since been disqualified.
- One psychic
- One undertaker
Plus you've got the usual nominations/evictions deal - same as the UK.
The house is KICK-ASS. The garden is circular and has white lines in the shape of a bullseye. There's a coffin-shaped pool with a secret "oasis" hidden if you swim under a wall. The inside is coloured in pink, red, orange and yellow, but there are stuffed black crows perched on the walls. Plus, the bedrooms and bathroom weren't revealed to the HM's until yesterday (1 July) - they'd been sleeping in the garden and showering using the hose. The bed/bath-room was hidden behind a secret panel (like the Gold Room in BBUS6).
HM's from all across France, one Quebecker, and one francophone-Belgian chick. So far, they all seem to be dumb shits. Marie-France revealed her secret (that she's Maeva's mum) to the entire house and got herself kicked out - and now Maeva staying is dependent on the public vote next week. Hayder already has €10,000 in his account and is clearly the fave.
Obviously this thread isn't a huge deal for those who don't speak French, but for the record TF1 puts up the dailies on their site for a few days. (www.secret-story.tf1.fr). The site itself is pretty bad, but you can get to the vid's OK... it's easy, the menu's at the top.
