My parents are coming to see us for the weekend. I thought we'd eat and blow stuff up, but they can't stay up until it gets dark at 10pm. So I'll
probably do the boring local street party thing and then out to dinner and ship the 'rents off to their hotel. Maybe after that I'll head to the indian
reservation to watch crazy fireworks and put my life in jeopardy.

Cooking out w/ the family early and then off to the horse races at 3pm. Watching the fireworks display after the last race.

Cedar Point, woo! The day starts with loading up on snacks at a gas station, then blasting the radio all the way through the barrren wasteland that is the Ohio
turnpike, breakfast at Bob Evans in (near?) Sandusky with typical American food like pancakes with a pound of fruit topping or steak and eggs, enter the park,
stand in lines for 6 hours, leave the park for another typical American meal at McDonalds, return to park for six more hours of line waiting, park our fat,
happy, sunburnt asses on the beach for fireworks, attempt to leave the park (sit in car for two hours while stuck in parking lot), drive back through Ohio with
a final late night patriotic meal at Waffle House in Toledo, and then home. God bless America.

Well, I for sure won't be watching fireworks because, ONCE AGAIN, all the frickin' fireworks are on the 3rd.
I never understood why people who work on the 3rd want to rush home at 5:00 and then immediately rush out to the fireworks display to get a good seat, when there's all the time in the world on the 4th...WHICH IS THE ACTUAL HOLIDAY. Oh, wait...it's all about paying the overtime to the police and firefighters. Nevermind. |
