Drinks and dinner at a O'Shea's a local pub, followed by a late night trip to Waverly Hills, the loony bin where thousands died of TB and is reportedly haunted.
We arrived on 2 buses and walked through the outside restaurant in single file to a courtyard New Orleans type atmosphere in the back all reserved for us. There was very little to eat and 3 bars set up. Only a couple trays of chips/dip and veggies. We all got trashed and the only ppl who ate dinner were Rob and Amber. I found out that Denise had had her toenails painted for the first time. And she was carrying her first purse. She also had her husband and children in tow. Lots of great pics taken. And I got to meet James for the first time. But it was only because I was able to pry him off of Ami. Then it started to rain. The Survivors thought they might melt but I reminded them that they had endured much worse rain on the islands and they were wimps.
After we were totally snockered, and I do mean snockered. I saw Ami (edited)
I think we got there about 8:00 pm. But nothing ever happened on time because we had to sit on the bus and wait for whoever was missing. When we finally left, we headed back to the Galt House to drop off the peeps who didn't want to go on the next adventure. Thankfully, I put on my tennis shoes. So at 11:30 or so, we were off again to "one of the scariest places on earth". One of the Survivors lit up a joint on the bus and had to be reminded that this was a family event. I will not tell you who it was. We pulled up and there was this big ominous building. We were escorted into a large room with a big screen TV and a seating area. They also sold snacks and soft drinks and souvenirs. All the snacks were 50 cents and we were all throwing out 5 dollor bills for "dinner". Mine was Doritos and Coke. We watched the screening first. It was all about the sanitarium and the Scariest Places on Earth Show. Then, we all divided into two large groups. I had the female guide and the other one was a male and I heard he sucked. We entered the sanitarium with one flashlight and five floors. Along the way, BJ and Eric from TAR provided the entertainment. They would spook us every chance they got. From lying down on gurneys to taking pictures with "ghosts" it was a laugh a minute. I never saw anything spooky. But I did have several pics along with a friend, that had orbs in it. Also, Chistina Coria had a pic she shared with us on the bus back that had a child in it.
The last part was a trip down "the chute". About a mile of concrete tunnel that went dirctly into the ground. They didn't want the residents to know how many people were dying. So they sent the bodies out into this chute. Everyone was freaked to go down underground. Our guide said there was nothing there to see and it was a very long walk so most of our group stood out in the rain and waited for the rest to come back. It was cool to hear them all descending and then it was quiet for a long while. Then we heard them coming back bitching because there was nothing to see. Finallly, at around 2:30 we boarded the bus back to the hotel. I had Doritos stashed everywhere. I could have eaten BJ's shorts by then . We were all exhausted and I don't think anyone hit the hotel bar that night.
More about Frieday soon.
