So did anyone get around to watching the Ohio State - Northwestern game? The game itself was not very important in the national scope, but it was a sort of coming out party (in a non-gae way) for Terrelle Pryor. Some of the plays he made today were jaw-dropping (also in a non-gae way).

Anyways, could somebody please explain to me why the USA Today poll and the AP poll both have 'Bama at number one after they barely beat LSU and Texas Tech blew a top-10 ranked team out of the water...?

After PSU's last win and USC's destruction of UW, they both dropped in the polls. Only way I can answer that above is to suggest the pollsters believe that Alabama played a tougher schedule overall, so they left them there. Just spec on my part.

I guess that makes sense...perhaps they're just waiting to see how Texas Tech does against Oklahoma. At any rate, I'm expecting Alabama to be the NGC at this point...the question is if Texas Tech can manage to hang on as long as 'Bama can.

I'd actually kind of like to see 'Bama go against Utah, but I seriously doubt the voters will ever let that happen...

Once you're number one, you usually have to lose before anyone will be willing to rank you lower than that, no matter how close your games are. I don't particularly like it either, but that's the way it goes. It's easier for the voters to move around the lower teams than mess with the top spot.

Not everyone had Tech #2 as well, a lot of people had Tech in the 3-4-5 range, so they had a lot of ground to make up to get to #1.

jumps four spaces to become the best college football team after blasting Oklahoma State 56-20. The raiders have one test left: at Oklahoma in two weeks.

2 Texas
remains at two after beating Baylor 45-21. It looks like Texas won't be winning the Big 12 South. (Damn, that's a competitive race.) The longhorns travel to Kansas next week.

3 Florida
remains at three after winning at former defensive-power Vanderbilt 42-14. The gators have already sewn-up the SEC-East with three games remaining. Florida believes they may have the clearest path to the National Championship. But first, South Carolina next week.

4 Alabama
remains at four after winning at LSU in overtime 27-21. The crimson tide have already sewn-up the SEC-West with two games left, so mark the Florida- Alabama conference championship on your calendar. Alabama hosts Mississippi State next week.

5 Southern California
moves up a space after beating California 17-3. The trojans travel to Stanford next week. Stanford beat USC last year despite being more than 40 point underdogs.

6 Oklahoma
moves up a space after winning at Texas A&M 66-28. The sooners host Texas Tech in a major Big 12 match-up in two weeks. And if Oklahoma wins, then Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech will probably be (10-1, 6-1) with wins over one another. What would happen then?

7 Penn State
falls six spaces after losing at Iowa 23-24 in the final seconds. The nittany lions host Indiana next week.

8 Utah
jumps six spaces after rallying to beat TCU 13-10. Utah has a BCS game in its sight. They travel to San Diego State next week.

9 Oklahoma State
moves down a space after losing at Texas Tech 20-56. The cowboys hope to rebound at Colorado next week.

10 Boise State
moves down a space after beating harmless Utah State 49-14. The broncos play an even worse team, Idaho, next week.

11 TCU
remains at 11 after losing in the final seconds at Utah 10-13. One game (and no BCS hope) remains for the Texas Christians: Air Force in two weeks.
