It wasn't so much that they made a special effort to keep the identity of the Mole a secret even after the cancellation, but more that the contractual obligations still had to be upheld even if the show wasn't airing, and part of the players' contracts also stipulated that unless every episode aired, they wouldn't receive their earnings.
The only way I could see that happening is if they slap a gag order on the cast and hold their money.
