West Coast Baseball vs. East Coast Baseball! History is being made right now. No team in any NCAA sport seeded lower than 48th has ever made it to the Final 4 of their respective tournament. Fresno State is in the Championship Game. (ESPN will remind you of this 527 times) Georgia is somewhat of a Cinderella as well, as many people felt they were undeserving of their national #8 seed. The ACC has been humiliated for like the 50th year in a row and sent home early.

Saw that stat about the ACC not winning for 50 years and was surprised. The whole ACC has only won 55 mens national championships. Several schools in the SEC have over 30 or 40 by themselves!

I've been tracking it since the Regionals. I also expected LSU to make the title game, given how they'd been playing. The 'Canes - 'Noles game had a most entertaining 9th inning... Miami was up 7-2, and brought in a relief pitcher to start the inning. 'Noles had gotten it to 7-5, with two outs and the bases loaded (no pitching change had been made)... and the batter hit one to the 2nd baseman for an easy out. The cameras were honing in on the 'Canes players sweatin', with "WTF?!?!!!" looks on their faces.

Relief pitcher comes on in the 8th, and BOOM - 4 runs scored!! Fresno State loses by a run. You know that the early-innings pitchers have gotta be pissed when a reliever comes on and throws away multiple innings of a good pitching effort with a single horrendous inning... or sometimes even less than a full inning.

It was kind of a spaghetti strategy--throw enough pitchers up there and see if any of them stick. And how can you not like them? They're from Fresno. That's like the armpit of the world.
