My favo movie ever, but it had been at least a decade since I've seen it. It also sparked an interesting question: How for fuck's sake were the CGI
miles better and more convincing 15 years ago than they are today???
Shouldn't technology improve with time? I love the SpiderMan/X-Men movies and all that shit, but they all look like a Disney/Pixar
animated movie compared to some really well made movies 15 years ago.

Weren't some of the things in Jurassic Park automated for some scenes like the TRex head? I agree that it was better than a lot of things you see now.

I agree, but weren't a lot of them robots or puppets then? Now everything is computer for money reasons and you can't always duplicate things like
texture, lifelike movements, and spacial issues with a computer.
I'd rather see a guy in a wookie suit than a computer animated Jar Jar Binks. |

I love Jurassic Park! It's one of my favorite movies. I remember seeing it as a kid! I had all the toys too and the JP headquarters! Is CGI cheaper than using animatronics/puppets, I don't mind CGI but the Jurassic Park dinosaurs were wonderful! Though not all of them were animatronics, I don't think the Brontosaurus? in the beginning of the film were animatronics, they probably were CGI. |

Was it on network/cable or did you watch it on DVD (or better yet, VHS???) Surely I didn't miss it!
I swear I have a trigger in my brain that tells me anytime Jurassic Park 1 or 3 comes on, and I am then inclined to drop what I'm doing and watch it. But not JP2. Horrid little film that. |

But yea, the reason the dinosaurs look so real is because about 95% of them were all animatronics and puppets. They really only used CGI when they HAD to in that movie. It's a lot easier to make dinosaurs look more realistic on film then it is to make someone look like their shooting lightening out of their hands or turning into sand. |

The part in JP1 when Dr. Grant lights the flare and the T Rex roars is probably my favorite few seconds in any movie ever. I'd love to get some high
quality screencaps of that. I've been watching it on AMC lately, usually they run it a couple times a week.
