I am always smiling. You can ask anyone, I get excited by the smallest things." Mark is the lone competitor from Newfoundland in the Top 24. "I'm really excited to be the only competitor in the Top 24 from Newfoundland, but it's actually a little nerve-wracking as well. I feel very fortunate and I am pumped to be here, as I have the hopes and dreams of an entire province riding on my shoulders!" Making the long journey from his first audition in St. John's to taking the Canadian Idol stage has been thrilling for Mark, who considers himself a natural showman. "I feel most comfortable when I am in front of a crowd. When I have an audience, my personality shines, my jokes roll and my singing sounds like it's at its best." Ask any of the other competitors in the Top 24 and they will attest that Mark's wit is one of his trademarks. His sense of humour is always front and centre. "I think viewers would be surprised to know my birth name was actually Qwerty Day," Mark says jokingly...we think. Beyond the strong performances Mark wants to bring to Idol, he also wants to show off his sophisticated fashion sense each week. "I like to keep the performance fun and fresh, but be dressed in a classy way."

Mark Gay is the ONLY Newfie this season!
He's a shoo-in in the finals now. Not to mention, there are a lot of talented Maritimers this season (and where the hell did they come from?) and thus, will split votes and leave before Marky Mark. And he'll absorb all the East coast votes - OH MY GOD! |

Why did he try out?? UGH. GO AWAY!!! I really detest that province (for CI only, Newfies on the whole are awsome peeps).
"It was my first taxi ride" Bleh. Why can't these Newfie gaes wait till they are 18, get 2 ear piercings, diet, move to T.O.'s gae village and just club, snort coke/cock and drink their life away instead of going on CI and pursuing their dreams??? This is what we get for teachers telling kids they can't do whatever they want. Now we pay for the consequences. |
