That evil bitch with bun!!!Oh god, you mean that old lady with the puffy princess headband? I hate her!! |

YES!!!
Oh my God, every time there's a cake challenge, and I hear her being such an EVIL cunt to the contestants, it bothers me. I want a contestant to say to her "When's the last time you baked a 5 foot cake in 3 hours?!?!?!?" But, the Food Stylist judge tonight might have surpassed Evil Bun Bitch in annoyingness. |

Tonight's challenge was interesting. I thought the winner's table was boring though- I agreed that there wasn't enough food. That sandy one was a
disaster though! Yikes.

the others are a snoozefest |

The sugar ones bore me unless something breaks. Don't like the barbecue/outdoor ones so much either. Cakes are definitely the best. They've had so many though that it feels like they're repeating themes. |

OMG, the lady with the Elizabethan headband? Where would you get something like that.
I loved the pixar challange last week, Nemo rocked. |

Kelsey gets my vote as the weirdest reality show contestant this season.

Oh I loved the Pixar challenge! I was heartbroken when the Monster's Inc guy fell! But seriously... did they not think about maybe angling the door so it
wasn't 90 degrees?
I only watch the cake and chocolate challenges. I wish there was a Top Chef style Top Cake show- I'd love to see that!! |

Couldn't he have made the door out of something more substantial? Like Rice Crispy threats covered with fondant, or some sort of sugar sculpture? Or hell,
he could have cut up the cake and stacked it like bricks and used royal icing to stick it to the frame
I don't know if anyone else was watching the food stylist one, but is it just me or did the chick that lost, keep showing more & more cleavage in her talking heads. edited to correct retarded spelling

The cakes are definitely awesome...
Or when they do specific foods...Like the cookie challenge was good...The sugar sculpting stuff bores me, as well as the fruit displays or whatever. But, Food Network is still my default network, and it's always fun to click on the challenge for background noise. |

I prefer the ones that look like real food, like the sandwich and burger challenges. 20 foot sugar sculptures and super-ornate cakes don't really appeal
to me because they don't seem edible. I watch this channel to get hungry.
The pie competition, while not an official Challenge, is still probably my favorite. |

Well, anything with loads of fondant, as far as I'm concerned, is inedible. According to my cake-makiing friend, fondant doesn't really have much of a
taste...Which is why Duff's cakes, although impressive, wouldn't really appeal to my taste buds. Throw in the fact that more often than not, it's
Rice Crispy and NOT cake.
Apparently marshmallow fondant is a bit better...but still... |

I got married recently, and even the baker who did my cake said fondant isn't really supposed to be that good. (His actually wasn't bad, but I can see
how it could be disgusting - it's got an odd sugary flavor and it's chewy - definitely more for looks than eating.)
One thing that bugs me about the challenges though, is in the ones where amateurs cook, they always explain how they get thousands and thousands of recipes from all over the country and they pick the best ones, but then you see the same people in the competitions over and over. There's one chick I've see three times, in like, burgers, chicken and something else. Do they expect us to believe she's the best of the best in every category? |

There was also that one women who was in one of those "How Do You Iron Chef?" commercials...Who then ended up winning the Food Network Cookie
Challenge. It seemed a bit fishy.

Depends on the fondant. Professionals usually use Satin Ice which is nicer than what home cake makers use (Wilton which is absolutely inedible). Marshmallow
fondant is great for kids- but too sweet for most adults. Some pros make their own, which tastes ok. I think mainly it's the texture that's hard to get
used to. Who wants to chew their frosting? It's like eating sweet play-dough. But it always looks really great.

FYI, The gingerbread challenges at Christmas are amazing too. I've stayed at that hotel in NC where they hold it and it is beautiful.

Kerry Vincent (Evil Queen Cake Judge) scares the cr*p out of me, I can't imagine if I were actually a contestant. I'm hoping to get a chance to talk to Bronwen Weber next month and I plan to ask if Kerry is as scary IRL as she is on tv. Pixar Cake Challenge - why didn't he make the Monster's Inc door out of rice krispy treats? You see them do that all the time. |

I LOVE the Food Network Challenges, especially the cakes. But I also like when the little obsessive compulsives sit there with sharp knives making radishes
look like roses (you have to be OCD, imho, to do that). I'm also a big fan of the sugar sculptures and the chocolate challenges. Anything that makes them
do artsy fartsy ones that no one can eat. The annual wedding cake challenge is also a must see. All those amateurs driving their cakes to Oklahoma.
The bitch judge unnecessarily mean and overly-critical. I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who hates her. I also remember there was a famous contestant -- in terms of lots of wins -- who died suddenly just a coupla days after she won a challenge. I believe it was the castles. She won and was so happy and then as the show faded to black, there was the little sign "In Memory of [whatever her name was]". I almost fell off my couch. I tried to find out if any challenges were going to be filmed here in the Phoenix area. There have been a few in the past, but I couldn't find a schedule on the Food Network's web site. Anyone know where such a schedule could exist? |

And you know who is HOT?!?!??! The one guy from NYC who debuted on The Sweet 16 challenge I think.
Cakes by Jason...I'd like Jason covered in frosting. |

No evil bitch with the headband this week!!!
I would've picked one of the two castle cakes. And what the fuck was with that soccer player?!?!? |
